Well, those attending recent Film Music Prague festival heard the End Credits suite composed by John Ottman for the movie... and who also kindly provided with the blessing from MGM the the suite for the concert. Sadly, I don't remember seeing anyone familiar from here attending the concert...

so here you go... it's just a very short glimpse (which wasn't part of the suite) on the score... but you can at least enjoy 1 minute from the latest John Ottman's masterpiece over at Kraft-Engel Magament's website.

I thought Ottman was going to be something special when I heard his excellent "Incognito" score a few years ago, but I've been proved wrong.

Doesn't sound terrible but I'll keep the original score (by Sawtell and Shefter) over this. Hopefully the end result is better.

I am a big Ottman fan and have been looking forward to Jack The Giant Killer. I like what I hear. John Ottman is at his best when he is afforded the opportunity to write for a large orchestra.

i was as excited about ottman 10 years ago as i was about giacchino 3 or 4 years ago. my interest in giacchino has more or less continued, whereas i forgot about ottman after X2.

Kristopher Gee's supposed to be composing some source music for this flick. Can't wait to hear what he's written!

I like it. Very promising. If its anything like Astro Boy it will be amazing.

I can see that Ottman's theme-writing skills haven't improved much from Fantastic Four. I like his smaller scores fine but I don't get why he gets hired for doing these large epics. They aren't his strength at all.

Because he's Singer's friend and go-to guy.

I can't imagine you typing yet another negative comment, how strange, Basil, writing something negative... Would it kill you to actually be nice once in a blue moon, lol? razz

Huh. Those samples actually sound really good. Nice mix of epic and gentle. Orchestrations are terrific. Ottman may have nailed this.

Don't you mean score _samples_ of the year?

That's a pretty good category for the IFMCA, actually!

Samples sound pretty good though I can only take so much of that low bitrate stuff. I may have to check out this full score now.

It seems to be right... possibly there will be another shitty CD-R on demand. Hey... it's only some little movie that cost only about 200 millions to make... Poor Warners can't afford to produce actual CDs within that budget.

That's a shame. Ottman is a bit of a hit-or-miss with me but this does one has a good vibe.

You can listen to an interview on www.filmmusicsite.com with composer John Ottman. He talks about his latest score for Jack The Giant Slayer!! He also confirmed in that interview that he will be writing the score to Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. He will also be editing this film!

Not usually a fan of Ottman, but the samples are great despite sounding very...Ottmany.
