I just received my copy of STAGECOACH today and I was so thrilled I went to find the old thread so I could discuss it. I was dismayed to discover it had been locked due to a bunch of baloney over cover art. Sheesh!
So about THE MUSIC! No cover art discussion please!
As I said, I was thrilled. Anyone who had doubts over the samples, forget it. This is like hearing the score for the first time. The instruments come through clearly and distinctly, the percussion sharp and bright, all the overlays in place. Incredible job.
I was always very disappointed in the sound on the FSM release. It seemed very muddy and one of my favorite cues..."The Reward", sounded especially bad, with the lovely guitar strumming over the last half of the cue mixed so low as to be almost inaudible. But this new release rectifies that and much more.

I had passed up RIO LOBO because I was satisfied with the Prometheus version. But if the improvement is anywhere as dramatic as with STAGECOACH, I may have to reconsider.
Great news to hear of the improvement in audio quality! I just ordered this one from LaLa with STTMP - I've always loved the quieter stuff in Stagecoach and look forward to receiving this.
Does anyone remember any discussion about the song "Where You Lead, I will follow"...the song with lyrics to Goldsmith's main theme?
I know it wasn't in the film, itself, but it was a track on the Mainstream LP.
Just finished listening to tne new LLL again, most definitely the sound is excellent, really enjoyed it etc, but I do miss that song from the old LP. The Wayne Newton vocal I could never take to...how the heck did he ever become involved? Singing, eh 'performing' in the showrooms of Vegas was where he most certainly belonged!

Finally!!! A CD befitting of the superb music in the film. I always use the first minute of The Aftermath as the audio test of how I want to hear this music, it being my favourite bit from the score n' all and it's great to report it sounds the best I've ever heard it. The booklet is gorgeous, just a joy to look at and fondle The notes are pretty cool too! The only downside to the whole thing is the missing song (the Jerry one), so you can't retire the other CD and the bonus tracks/extra music appear to be mainly western standards (I haven't played the bonus section yet so apologies if it isn't source cues) and not new/extra Jerry score Still, it sounds the best it ever did and it's a wonderful package, so if you love this score as much as I do, take the plunge!

You weren't referring to Engelbert Humperdinck's recording of the song from Stagecoach (as I first thought); you were referring to his recording of a Godsmith composition generally. Sorry.

Man, I can’t stop listening to this. Got it recently in the sale and was totally blown away by the new sound quality. And it’s just such a great score. I never get tired of listening to “The Reward”
Totally agree with you, el Kuato. This is easily the best sounding edition to what is, probably, my favourite Goldsmith western score. Although I REALLY love Wild Rovers and Ballad Of Cable Hogue too.
The notes are pretty cool too!
