The following quote was posted on Facebook April 21st, 2012 from a very reliable source (regarding Danny Elfman's MIDNIGHT RUN score): "Though I don't think that there was initially much left off of the original 1988 soundtrack, we'll eventually be getting an expanded score album, with an instrumental version of the End Credits( which is the song "Try To Believe" performed by Oingo Boingo under the alias “Mosley and the B-Men”.) As they say, stay tuned! " April 28, 2012 UPDATE: The Facebook author of the above quote, Illustrating the Score, must have seen this thread and has now added the following statement to his original FB posting: "Just to be upfront, considering an "Expanded Release," that I mentioned above, I DO NOT have any real inside info that ordinary folks don't already have. When I said that this was "eventually" going to happen, I was speculating. Yes, I do have good resources in the film music communities, but I don't not pretend to be anyone's spokesperson. Thank you. " I changed the thread title to reflect this new comment. Bummer.

That's excellent news. A truly fun and bouncy score.

Well, I assume they mean the 'actual' instrumental that ended the film. That wasn't on the original MCA CD; they included the vocal version instead - which wasn't in the film. I liked the vocal version but always regretted that they didn't include the instrumental ending too. It seemed to me however that most of the music from the film was on the CD so it will be interesting to see how much of an expansion any new CD might be.

Anybody who really cares already has this, but a nice addition would be Elfman's 1990 version of "Try to Believe" from the Oingo Boingo album, Dark at the End of the Tunnel. I much prefer this version to the crazy gospel version that plays in Midnight Run, and it might make people think better of the song.
