MONDAY, OCTOBER 24 THE STAND---Warner Bros. has made an offer to Ben Affleck to direct the movie based on the Stephen King novel, but he has not signed yet. The novel was previously a 1994 miniseries starring Gary Sinise and Molly Ringwald. SIN CITY 2---Robert Rodriguez said the sequel will starting filming by the end of the year and Nancy and Marv Callahan will be returning, "SIN CITY number two is primarily an adaptation of the book A DAME TO KILL FOR. It also features the short story, "Just Another Saturday Night" and two new stories. One involving Jessica Alba's character, Nancy Callahan, that I came up with for the movie in order to tie things together and make it be more united with the first." Mickey Rourke, who played Marv, had said he's not interested in returning for the sequel. THE WALKING DEAD---creator Robert Kirkman commented on the missing Michael Rooker, "We’re all suffering from Michael Rooker withdrawal. That’s really all I can say on the matter. We love him. We want him back. It could happen in episode 3, could happen in episode 7, could happen in a possible third season. But we’re going to get him back. Both him and Lennie James (who plays Morgan) brought a lot of credit to the first season and we’re absolutely dying to work those guys back into the show. It’s not something we’re going to forget. We’re not going to abandon these characters." MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING---filming was completed on a secret Joss Whedon movie which is "based on a play" but the plot wasn't disclosed. Amy Acker, Sean Maher, Nathan Fillion and Alexis Denisof star. CAPTAIN AMERICA 2---co-writer Christopher Markus said the sequel will be set in the present, "I think it's safe for us to say that it's primarily set in the modern day. That seems to have been the biggest question people have been wondering about regarding the sequel... [W]e've been left with room to explore Cap entering the modern day wondering, 'What is all this? What's happened to the world' and so on." TWO AND A HALF MEN---Charlie Sheen commented on the declining ratings of his former sitcom, "People aren't stupid, you know? Not all of them." The latest episode lost 1 million viewers from the previous episode. Sheen's new Fox sitcom starts filming in January. NEW GIRL---Zooey Deschanel sang the National Anthem for Game 4 of the World Series. Deschanel sings for the pop group She & Him. MODERN FAMILY---Sofia Vergara posted a photo of herself in a bikini while vacationing in Palmilla, Mexico. Earlier, Vegara said she looks like a transvestite. DOCTOR WHO---the Christmas special will have Doctor Who traveling back to Dorset, England during World War II to help a family. AKIRA---Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter have been offered co-starring roles in the movie based on the anime. Oldman would play The Colonel, and Carter would play Lady Miyako. Garrett Hedlund (TRON: LEGACY) stars. FAST AND FURIOUS---Universal Pictures is considering filming the 6th and 7th movies in the series back-to-back. THE MAN IN THE ROCKEFELLER SUIT---Scott Cooper (CRAZY HEART) is in negotiations to direct and possibly write the script for this movie based on the book about a German con man who passed himself off as a member of the Rockefeller family for decades before finally being arrested for kidnapping his daughter. WAR HEROES---negotiations are underway at Universal Pictures for the movie rights to this comic book about a soldier with super powers who must stop his former comrades who have gone rogue. THE OFFICE---Catherine Tate (DOCTOR WHO) returns as guest star for multiple episodes. ARTHUR AND LANCELOT---Kit Harrington (GAME OF THRONES) and Joel Kinnaman (THE KILLING) are the top candidates to star in this Warner Bros. movie about King Arthur and Sir Lancelot. DJANGO UNCHAINED---Joseph Gordon-Levitt (INCEPTION) has joined the cast of the Quentin Tarantino spaghetti Western which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx. THE MUPPETS--writers and performers of the original show are unhappy about the movie underway. Frank Oz said, "I wasn't happy with the script. I don't think they respected the characters. But I don't want to go on about it like a sourpuss and hurt the movie." MARRIAGE COUNSELOR---Kim Kardashian will co-star in this Tyler Perry movie.

The only way doing this makes any sense is along the lines of LORD OF THE RINGS.. The only way is to split it into two or three films. Ben Affleck is a very talented man, So don't dismiss him out of hand.. Ford A. Thaxton
