Those of you I've gotten to meet I freaking LOVED it. I'll keep having these events, but it's YOU who have to make the leap to LA. What I found out in August with our Friday night meet and great is...I can see this Friday night event getting bigger and bigger because it's a fun RELAXED atmosphere to just sit, drink if you want, eat and just talk to each other away from their monitors. I think it's SO important for me and you and everyone else to meet in person as many film score friends as you can. Thank GOD for Lukas in starting this in 2008 and 2009 and then me continuing it. Those I haven't met I really do hope you can come out next year. It will most likely be around August. I know it's a LOT of money and time and effort to come out, but I can guarantee you will go home with life long memories and friends. When you do continue chatting to your new acquaintances like you always did online, you'll feel closer to them because you can say I met Lori, she's awesome or Josh and Holly or Henry or the MANY others. Let's face it, our niche market is SMALL. I'm amazed at reading my Facebook comments on each others pages and see that many of us know each other and are friends with the same people. This sense of community which is what I strive for seems to be taking shape on Facebook and I hope it continues with the Fans of Film Music. I've been very fortunate that I think I have secured a sponsor for next years event which will be great because these last two years have been a lot of fun, but a LOT of work, stress and all that crazy stuff. Those that meet me know that I'm pretty easy going and after about a minute, we'll both feel we've been friends forever. So if your aching to meet some film score folks, try to make some acquaintances around your neck of the woods. It might be an hour or two drive, but just to be able to sit and talk scores is the greatest feeling.

I miss greatly my occasional lunches at Hopps in Boyton Beach with Dana Wilcox now that my in-laws have shuffled off this mortal coil. He is one of those unfailingly goodnatured individuals (not to mention a fellow unregenerate liberal) whose existence is to be treasured in this increasingly hostile environment. I hope to be in a position at some point in the future to make a visit to him in his future retirement location in Austin, Texas. (Lord knows, there is damned little other inducement to go to Texas these days--other than my sister-in-law in Houston.)
