I am, and reportedly one of my envelopes from Canada caught the eye of a German postal worker and it is now exhibited somewhere in Southern Germany... big grin

And yes, I'm borderline OCD.

Somebody (or you) sent a letter from Canada to you (or to your friend) in Germany and the postal service in Germany put it in an exhibit instead of delivering it to you (or your friend)?

Well, obviously it was me in Canada sending stuff to Germany.

One of the recipient's was asked by the mailman if they would mind lending the envelope to German Post for the exhibition. Sorry about the unclear wording, David!

Well, they're awfully pretty envelopes!

And as a collection, they won't take up nearly as much room as soundtrack cd's. smile

That's really nice, Christian. I just have my packages weighed at the post office and they print the exact amount on a single stamp. Your way is more picturesque.

Yes, I still use stamps. That greedy Deutsche Post just won't transport my stuff for free, grrr. mad

But seriously, I do like to take good care of making an envelope look nice (no, that does not mean bambi stickers) when it's something personal. smile

I hate generic-looking "flag" stamps. How boring.

I always have a supply of colorful ones, or commemoratives. Right now, I have some Jazz stamps, a few Ronald Reagans, Kathryn Hepburns, and Gregory Pecks. I love the Hollywood actors series, and went over the moon for the Universal Monsters, Marvel and DC Superheros, and of course the Broadway and Film Composers stamps (which I kept sheets of).

Who wouldn't use stamps now that the Sesame Street stamps are here?

A few years ago I went to a small post office in York near where I was working to buy some sheets of stamps to send out Christmas cards. The lady behind the counter said:

“Religious, or Wallace and Gromit?”

Not a question I’d ever been asked before, or since.

And of course it was Wallace and Gromit.

I avoid mailing letters and cards at all costs. Way to expensive. What a waste of money.

I only snailmail twice a year: a driver's license renewal and a Star Wars Insider subscription.

I still love this story.

And still envy that besides awesome film music concerts, or British Brethren get W&G stamps.

Dang, I can't see Christian's stamp pix.
Granted, it was posted ages ago.
What were they?

The Post Office loves people like you. They sell a sheet of paper to you for $10, and don't have to expend any money providing services.

This might be why they are doing more an more cute and famous stuff: Sesame Street, dead movie stars, etc.

Howdy! Since I can't see my own old post, I'm just putting a wild selection of my postal and philatelic endeavours on here. big grin Still doing it...and still trying to get special cancellations/postmarks on them. Both in Canada, the US and Germany. AND YES, I STILL KNOW HOW TO WRITE POSTCARDS AND LETTERS, AND LOVE DOING IT! Young whippershnappers... The most fun was putting some C$80 worth of stamps on that parcel to Germany!

And yes, even after all those years, a very big tip to the hat to the ladies at the various post offices who indulged me and my antiquated hobby! And who sometimes, just sometimes, let me do the cancelling myself! big grin

Ta for...well, indulging me here as well! wink A good weekend to you all!

Thanks for that, Christian.
Regular little works of art, they are.
We'd be nothing without our hobbies.

Also, that's a very cool black jacket you had on, there.
