I don't know "Kenner", but I can tell everyone that "More Than A Miracle" is a piece of HEAVEN!!!!
Found the LP in a cutout bin in the 1970s....took a chance listening one night and was thoroughly enthralled. The MGM LP recording was bright and the scoring was sweeping and melodic.
The Prince Rodrigo theme is one of those glorious compositions that never fails to amaze me no matter how often I hear it!
With Sophia Loren starring, Carlo Ponti producing, Francesco Rosi directing, and Piero Piccioni composing, how is it that "More Than a Miracle" comes to us from France?
I saw "Kenner" on the CBS Late Night Movie in the early 1970s, and it doesn't seem to have been available much since. There's no video release that I can find. "Kenner" was filmed in Bombay, India, and was the last U.S. release for director Steve Sekely, whose prior film was the cult horror classic "The Day of the Triffids."
I haven't heard a lot of Piccioni's work, but I have LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD and really love it. The clips from these films sound terrific, and as soon as I can rationalize the $34.95 (as in, AFTER tax day) I will undoubtedly shell out for this one. Really great to see a release from a talented European composer (besides Delerue) coming from FSM. A tip of the hat to the eminent Mr. Kendall for another surprise release!

Piccioni is my favorite from Italy. I own about 50 soundtracks by Piccioni, and I think THE LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD is his best. I think Piccioni would be best appreciated by those who love the music of Alex North and Jerry Fielding.
Piccioni's first peak (1960-1963) contains lots of great music in the Northian jazz and dramatic modes. In 1971, a number of Piccioni score took on an impressionistic quality, with shifting soundscapes not too unlike Fielding...
Very exciting news thank you so much Lukas and everyone involved in getting this one out there I love this score and Piccioni is one of the very best composers out there.
I have now gotten this 3-disc set and what's been striking me first about this release is how Farmer Kendall once again has maxed out his options to give us as much as possible. And even more than that:
Belated KUDOS. Another top-notch release. With all those recent Piccioni reissues that I purchased in the past weeks, I simply hadn't "concentrated" enough on the FSM release (partly because I was already familiar with More Than A Miracle, so it was not a listening priority). Kenner is close to perfect, and the Miracle score benefits vastly from sound improvement AND expansion.
to LK: out of curiousity what other Piccioni scores are likely to be released by FSM (there were not that many US films...?)
This has been great release many thanks again to Lukas and everyone involved More Than a Miracle has been given the best possible presentation for listening pleasure even the hours worth of bonus tracks are very enjoyable to listen too.
