Never seen The Professionals? With Lee Marvin n Burt Lancaster? Sacrilege!

I'm 45 Bill. I still have huge gaps in my film education!

I once spent a year watching Empire magazine's 500 greatest films but those weren't on the list sadly.

Did they slide your meals under the door?

Not far off. I'd be working during the day and in the evening I'd watch one of the films. I had to sign up to a DVD subscription service to find a lot of them. When I started I'd seen 150 of them already so I had to find the other 350. There were some really weird ones on there.

Jeez empire recommendations?? Bloody hell, u wuda been better off asking on here.

Personally I think you're better off asking us for 50 non poncey films from the 60s n 70s you need to see before you get any older.

If a cricket umpire makes the list, then I have to list these former major league baseball players who definitely qualify.

Say hey, Eric! What a list. Had no idea "Oisk" is still around.

Sadly, must report the death of Carl Erskine, the last of the Brooklyn Dodgers at age 97. I'm glad he was remembered on this list before his passing.

And another name from the baseball legends list, Whitey Herzog, Hall of Fame manager with the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals, has passed away at 92. Erskine and Herzog at the same time is quite a blow.
