I just saw this great interview with Orson Welles

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Orson+Welles+Dick+Cavett&aq=f

I always heard how difficult he was, but in here, he is as gentle as can get, and just one plain nice guy. This is a real tread...

This WAS a great interview. Saw this back in '73 when I was living in San Francisco. I had it on reel-to-reel for many years but lost track of it. I'd love to see this released on a DVD. Somewhere towards the end of the show Welles reads a passage from a book by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry on mail flying in the mountains of South America which is just wonderful. Thanks for the link.

Thanks, Scorch! This is fun.

Welles is a funny guy and it's great when he starts interviewing Cavett (below).

This is all so depressing when viewed today!

We don't have ANYONE with the wit and public charm and intelligence and thoughtfulness and well-spoken command of the language like Welles---or Cavett---on TV or the talk shows anymore.

Those of us who are "of-an-age" were so lucky to have experienced this kind of thing firsthand for at least a portion of our lives.

Thanks so much for posting that link.
