When I logged onto the Varese site to order the new limited editions, I thought I would order a club title that I had been wanting for a while, Studs Lonigan. It is no longer listed. It seems to me other titles may be missing as well. Can anyone identify other missing titles? It seems Varese's license on those titles may have expired. I ordered Studs Lonigan from SAE.

The only other missing title seems to be CAST A GIANT SHADOW.

Odd.

Which was almost sold out anyway and I already have a copy. That was what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure my memory wasn't faulty.

STUDS LONIGAN no longer listed at Intrada.

Gone. Perhaps- for all time.... big grin

Other titles seem to last for a period of time more than enough to meet our limited market demand. FSM recently indicated that Stagecoach was a low quantity item. Since it came out over 11 years ago I assume everyone who wanted one had plenty of time to order. Gone forever? If there is seemingly a small demand, say a thousand units, somebody in the limited market will release the title. I will not hold my breath for Studs Lonigan II at the box office anytime soon. That sounds like a money loser which, fortunately, our soundtrack releasers seem to be able to avoid. Except for, maybe, Stagecoach.

Which is weird because other sold-out titles are listed and labeled "sold out". I wonder if something is being done with this title and CAST A GIANT SHADOW?

Stagecoach was the first CD I ever bought from FSM, I always loved that score, tempted to buy a second copy just to have as a backup. Studs Lonigan is a great score too, couldn't do without it!

I've always enjoyed it just like you. And the Loner was a great inclusion. Despite possible issues with the release as JG's uninvolvement in the production I showed my copy to JG at the Small Soldiers sessions. He ended up keeping it. I guess he liked it too. The orchestration by David Tamkin was different than his other westerns of the era. The score was far above the attempt to recreate the John Wayne classic despite the star power in the remake.

In hommage to it's apparent deletion, now playing STUDS LONIGAN.

Guys,

It's also quite possible that their license just ran out and they have had to delete it from their catalog?

That might be very likely.

No doubt the license was up. Probably by at least 4 years. They are still entitled to sell the existing stock. Which I believe they are still doing. License up for grabs. Any takers?

I believe that to be the case, Ford. The lesson folks is if you want the older stuff grab it while you can.

Probably, but it really makes me wonder why they didn't announce this some time ago. They surely could have sold some more copies in the last week...

FYI, as a rule you only get SIX MONTHS as a SELL OFF PERIOD.

After that you either have to destroy the stock or give it to the company or party they licensed it from.

Blimey. Genuinely surprised to read that.

Man, that is sad if they have to be destroyed. I like what MV at LaLaLand does - he announces a month or two in advance that a title is going to be deleted or out of print, and then severely discounts the title. I assume he does this in order to get rid of as many as possible. Intrada did it a few years ago also, with a ton of Broughton CDs and Patch of Blue and QBVII (although the latter 2 were not discounted). Too bad Varese didn't do the same kind of early announcement.

It looks like they are both no longer available at SAE.
