Sucks to be Norway wink

I grabbed a copy (original German title... didn't bother me) for less than 10 euros all in.

It sucks, yes. Shipping to this country is so expensive, it’s like something out of a dystopian sci fi film with currency gone wild.

Yes, because it’s directed by Bille August. Wouldn’t mind owning that.

Interestingly, I have the English titled version of the CD... though I never noticed or put much thought into it that this soundtrack CD comes with many language titles.

Though it is rather fitting, considering that THE HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS is a German movie production directed by a Danish director based on the book by a Chilean author, taking place in South America but filmed in Portugal with English speaking actors.

It would not make much difference to me what language the title is on the soundtrack CD, they all seem to fit. :-)

Yes, it also happened with THE NAME OF THE ROSE by James Horner, which offered multi language text versions of the CD.
That one didn't bother me either, but I avoided Nicht Oct Mein Tochter (sic) like the plague eek

I guess you still have second-hand record shops in Oslo where you can find some dirt-cheap CDs, even soundtracks, from time to time?

Yes. There's one just up on the main road from the port.
You go down some escalators to get into it.
I went there last time we ported in Oslo (10...12 months ago).

There are a couple of stores still around in this city, but far fewer than there used to be. And prices on even used CDs are crazy high, unless it's - you know - "Absolute Music 1994" or some such thing.

Buying music on physical format these days is 99% impossible, in terms of the situation I'm in. There was a time I could buy a CD for the cost of a dinner, maybe two dinners if I went crazy and bought full price. Now the cost of a single CD on my want list is about the entire food budget for 3-4 whole days!

That's just how it is. Maybe some day things will change.

Sorry, this has nothing whatsoever to do with HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS.

Weird. A second hand shop here in my city often has tons of CDs for 10 NOK (1 Euro) each.

I bought a used Maurice Jarre score CD from the shop I noted above for about £6 (Nok equivalent).

That's life in the outskirts for ya! wink

I've trawled the few Oslo stores a couple of times in recent years (although obviously not as much as I used to, when it was a regular Saturday ritual), last time probably about a year ago or so. The prices are crazy. Yes, you'll find some cheapos, but they're usually crap and not the kind of thing I'm looking for.

Anyways, I think there are some other threads recently where we've talked about this (I have "Six Threats" that prevent me from getting CDs).
