I wish a re-release of this could be engineered, instead of the 6th go-round of some JG score!!
The full 3000 were never pressed and it's now ridiculously expensive on the secondary market.
Plus, the main theme got a shot in the arm from that Tarantino/Manson film.
Any hopes?

I second that emotion.

Every time I play the "Bad Bob" cue I think if Jarre had scored an "...Apes" movie it would probably have sounded something like that.

I gave up on the second hand market, as I have with Night of the Generals, and so I have this on download. Very happy with it.

Really love this score. I arrived late to the FSM community and alas missed out on this. The secondary market is unaffordable and now rely upon the selections from the Tadlow recording.

I live in hope that one of the labels will look to reissue this in the future.

Transition your hope to locating an existing copy of the FSM disc on the secondary market. It's really not likely that any label will pay to reissue a score that never sold well enough to justify pressing the full 3000 copies that were licensed. Besides, didn't Sony announce that they've stopped licensing releases of their properties to outside outfits?

I would be very surprised if anybody reissued this, unfortunately. It was very difficult to do, involving both Sony Music and Warner Bros. (the film studio). If anybody was going to try to get those two to work together today—very expensive—they'd probably start with a much bigger title.

I was amused when WB called me because Tarantino wanted to use it in one of his earlier films (I forget which, maybe Django), which didn't happen—and then in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which did. They were like, who owns this?!?!?

Let me know if you ever find a box of the buggers lying around, Lukas, ala Towering Inferno.
I'm calling dibs on one wink

Alas I long ago boxed up all of my CDs and only kept one copy of each FSM edition for myself. Everything else went to Screen Archives!

Thank you Lucas for the information and your thoughts, it is much appreciated.

I didn't really expect any label to re-issue this especially as Jarre soundtracks do not seem to sell well and now factored in the fact that WB licencing costs being too high. So I will continue to look on the secondary market for a reasonable priced copy.

I thought Maurice Jarre CD's sold in good numbers. He was a fantastic composer one of the very best ever...

Yes, I agree, Mr Jarre was a great composer but looking at the number of releases we get compared to other favoured composers, I am afraid he falls behind them.

We have been really fortunate thanks to James Fitzpatrick for his great re-recordings of Lawrence, Mad Max, Villa Rides Notre Dame de Paris, Is Paris Burning and The Message/Lion of the Desert in keeping Jarre's legacy going. I like others would still love a complete Jesus of Nazareth but I believe there are issues preventing this happen at this moment in time.

I must also thank Intrada for the complete Shogun amongst other titles released and not forgetting European labels (Quartet, Music Box) for releasing titles when and if they can. Thanks.

I cannot think of a film title that would make me want to avoid the film more than "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean."

Except maybe "The Nun's Story."
