Reminder: The English company Network released 6 soundtracks from the ITC catalogue of Lew Grade who launched many classic television series. Every two months, Network released a CD set of a vintage series. In 2008, Network offered these 6 titles: 1. "The Prisoner" (3 CDs) music by Ron Grainer, Robert Farnon, Wilfred Josephs, Albert Elms 2. "Randall and Hopkirk (deceased)" (3 CDs) music by Edwin Astley 3. "Man in a Suitcase" (5 CDs) music by Ron Grainer, Albert Elms and Freddie Phillip 4. "Department S"(3 CDs) music by Edwin Astley 5. "Danger Man: the half hour series" (2 CDs) music by Edwin Astley 6. "Danger Man: the long hour series" (5 CDs) music by Edwin Astley To watch and order them: http://www.networkdvd.net/index.php?cPath=69&osCsid=7009fbf9c257547401d9fdef57cf87bc Be seeing you!

Your images aren't showing up, but the network cds are totally different. None of the stock music from the Chappell Music Libaray is included. instead, it is every note composed for the series. However, it is in raw firm, so there are 230+ cues, some only a few seconds long. Many also have recording guys calling out the cue titles and numbers. Even the main theme is un edited and in different pieces, with different takes included. As an archive of music, to preserve how a studio kept their records, it's great. As a listening experience, it's a tough go.

Sorry, they showed up for awhile. they're the older Silva sets (not the newer ones with dialogue) and the BamCaruso LP, as released on CD (which was also the same as one of the older Silva sets).

No worries. :-) Ayway, yeah, the cues are not edited into suites or familiar and coherent tracks. It's like finding the music tapes at the stuido and playing them. That's not to say the music isn't good, but if you want to have suites and stuiff, you'll have to make them yourself. I did assemble a rejected Main Theme for the series out of three cues and it sounded great. But I don't think everyone would want to do that. That's not stopping me from getting the others in the series and am awaiting delivery of three albums right now.

I just need to order Randall & Hopkirk and the Danger Man second series music and I'm up to date. I didn't get into the former, though, so Imight wait. I'm looking forward to releases of The Saint, Persuaders, Propectors and others.

I find the following typology of the ITC companion book ("Cult TV - The Golden Age of ITC") very relevant: THE PURITAN AND THE HALO "Danger Man" "The Saint" GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE "Man in a Suitcase" "The Prisoner" FAIRY STORIES FOR ADULTS "The Champions" "Department S" "Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)" NO STRINGS ATTACHED "UFO" "Space: 1999" THE KITSCH SQUAD "Jason King" "The Persuaders" "The Protectors" GHOSTS IN THE MACHINE is complete. THE PURITAN AND THE HALO and FAIRY STORIES FOR ADULTS are almost complete. I see THE KITSCH SQUAD in 2009!

In the booklet of "The Music of ITC" they wrote: "Unfortunately the incidental music composed by Edwin Astley for Gideon's Way is no longer thougth to exist." Obviously they found something. Indeed they did As the website spiel says: "Back in 2009, when Network released The Music of ITC on CD, the sleeve notes stated that the incidental music cues for Gideon’s Way were believed lost. This was indeed the case… in 2009. But six years is a long time in archive television research – and as we continue to scour the vaults, blowing the dust from film and tape cans that have often been misplaced or even misidentified, several important archive recoveries have been made. Not the least of these has been the discovery of the missing incidental music tapes for this seminal ITC series". I wonder what else they might have found?
