There's a new compilation CD of music from films scored by Gabriel Yared being released on Naive in France on September 9.

It appears to be a 2 disc set. I haven't found a full track list yet but the cover art can be seen here:

Oh...and it looks like Naive is doing the same type of sets for composers Bruno Coulais & Armand Amar.

Did anybody get this compilation and, if so, how is it? Being not overly fond of Yared's low-key, heavy drama side...

Franz? David? wink

It's filled with cues from many great scores by Yared... um, not very useful, I know. But I think it's good. Only TROY is missing.

Can anyone shed a bit more light on this 2CD Yared set? It's pretty cheap on Amazon so I was thinking of buying. Is it all original recordings? How's the sound? I don't have much Yared in my collection.

It's the original recordings. An excellent CD, especially if you don't have a lot of Yared scores. Very worthwhile.

A two-disc set? So, a pair of Brunocoulais.

You can't go wrong with YARED. I feel he is one of the best active composers around today.

Not sure if you understood, since this was a very old thread brought back to life, but this CD came out 6 years ago...

Received this 2CD at the weekend and have been enjoying it a lot. I was only familiar with a couple of Yared’s scores, so this compilation is a good overview of his work. Some really nice cues and themes, and one that really impressed me is ‘Elegy for Charlotte’ from ‘Autumn in New York’, a film I’d never even heard of before. But as I said, there’s a lot of nice stuff therein.

Interesting. Does anyone here know if Yared himself selected the pieces on this compilation?
