How many relationships die on Valentines Day?

The ones which began with a weak foundation.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I seem to recall hearing most breakups happen on holidays and birthdays.
Or maybe I'm just reminiscing about Turkey Drop.

wink

That may be true, but from my experience as the driver, chief cook and dishwasher, grocery shopper, carpenter, plumber, etc., all duties which I relish, btw; I would say that the worst arguments that I've witnessed among couples have almost always occurred at the grocery store, then the department store would be next.
You can spot them fairly easily. The wife takes her time to purview every item on every aisle and the husband silently fumes as she picks things out, for he wants to get a few things and go. He doesn't want the things she does and all that she wants costs too much. You can see the muffled conversations with both with furrowed brows, dagger eyes, etc. Some couples are already at odds before they even start - he thinks she's going to spend too much and she resents his attitude. There've been times when I've seen some that look as though they'll come to blows or husbands threaten to walk out and drive home by himself. It may be a Southern thing, but I see it happen a lot!

Does everyone--to which the sentiment applies--still hate Valentine's Day?

Fuck yes.

I like the days following Valentine's because my female co-workers bring in their leftover chocolates for me to enjoy.

I don't hate Valentine's Day, despite being single. I'm just completely indifferent to it.

Oh no Mr. Jack, I can't share that sentiment. I was married 33 years ago today to the most wonderful man I know.

I think joan and I have to put our heads together to help you find that girlfriend that you mentioned wanting to meet in another thread.

I have no money, no car, and no self-confidence.

Let Madness provide your script for that girl o'your dreams--no joke. They always expressed things in a humorous, madcap, yet bee-yoo-tee-full way.

I picked up a half-priced Whitman's Sampler at my local drugstore today (oh, boy).

Chocolate creams abound!

I used to hit the stores the day after Easter, Halloween, Valentines day, but it seems nowadays the stores pull the candy overnight or other shoppers are onto the game and buy it all up early the next morning at discounted prices.

Mr Jack
My mate was never without a girl. He used to use a football analogy and was forever saying "If you dont make the runs into the box, you are never going to score any headers..." - in other words, if you dont make the effort, or put yourself out, the opportunities dont present themselves. So joining clubs, doing voluntary work, taking up a joint pastime that women play like tennis, is basically your runs into the penalty box.

Also to those people who use lack of confidence/motivation or fear of making a fool of themselves as an excuse to do nothing, i am reminded of the Pryor/wilder film See no evil hear no evil where Wilder says im always worried about making an idiot of myself and Pryor says Ok and promptly sticks a melting ice cream cone on Wilder's head and says "Now you look really stupid!". And they laugh. And thats the thing - whats the worst that can happen? you ask a girl for a drink n she says no. Aint the end of the world is it? The more you ask, the more your chances increase.

Another approach is that its far better to make girl pals n do social shit together, just let any dating come later in its own time.

Well, if somebody needs a car or money to like you - forget about it in the first place.
