A few years back I met Jim Belushi and Dan Aykroyd at a CD signing at The Mall Of America. I shook hands with both of them. They were both very friendly.

"Met" as in actually said hello and talked a bit with them, I suppose?

Well, in terms of international stars that some of you may have heard about, I don't have much to brag about:

Jan Harlan, the Kubrick producer
Bruce Grobelaar, ex-Liverpool keeper
and...uhm, that's it! embarrassment

Wait...I was with the creators of SOUTH PARK at a party once, but I was so pissed that I can't recall if I ever met them.

However, here in Norway, I've met practically every big national celebrity there is (but I doubt you've heard of any of them). Mainly because I was myself somewhat of a semi-celebrity for a couple of years (still is, to a certain degree) and participated in things such as Gullruten, Norway's equivalent to the Emmy's.

The biggest honour was probably participating in our King's 70th birthday and talking with the entire royal family. The King was actually a big fan of ours. smile

Well, "famous" might not apply to all of these people, but I have met the following at conventions and other appearances:

* Brent Jones (former San Francisco 49er)
* Brian Andrews (HALLOWEEN)
* Bruce Campbell (three times)
* Connor Trineer (ENTERPRISE)
* Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN 4 & 5)
* Ernie Hudson (GHOSTBUSTERS)
* Gary Graham (ENTERPRISE)
* Heather Langenkamp (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET)
* Jerry Rice (former San Francisco 49er)
* John Carpenter
* Kathleen Kinmont (HALLOWEEN 4 and ex-Mrs. Lorenzo Lamas)
* Kevin Conroy (BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES)
* Lance Henriksen (the bad ass himself)
* Marc Singer (THE BEASTMASTER)
* Robert Picardo (STAR TREK: VOYAGER)
* Stan Winston
* Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr. (effects artists)
* Tony Todd (CANDYMAN)
* Val Kilmer
* Vernon Wells (THE ROAD WARRIOR)
* Wes Craven

And several others. My mom and I once met former 49ers coach Goerge Seifert and his wife outside of a Costco in Mountain View, California, and I bumped into Huey Lewis (literally!) at Disneyland back in 1991.

Pretty impressive list!

Some of them I worked for or with, but most of the rest I met through my work in the rare book business. Only a few were people I approached, like Astaire and Little Richard (both of whom were extremely nice). Pristine Condition was a personal friend and I doubt anyone here will have heard of him, but I know he'd have been insulted if I didn't include him (God rest his soul).

Also, living in L.A. helps.

He was very friendly.

That guy rules! I've got his "Boring Postcards" books!

I met Little Richard, as well, about twenty years ago. The guy was totally nuts.

was running against Carter.
Benny Goodman in 1973 when he
played with the El Paso Symphony.
Chuck Norris when he was filming
Lone Wolf McQuade in El Paso in 1982.
Ann and Nancy Wilson of HEART in
Austin, Tx - 1985. Backstage pass
at one of their concerts.
Stevie Ray Vaughn in 1986 in
Austin at The Backroom bar at
one of his concerts.
Ian Crichton and Steve Negus
of SAGA at the Backroom at one
of their concerts in 1985.

I've seen Jerry Goldsmith and
Bill Conti conduct concerts of
their filmmusic in El Paso in
the 80's, but never got to
meet them.
