I was an hour and a half late, but when I joined I think you'd spoken about John Williams' amazing sprightliness, then we went on to composers' health (Ennio working out at his gym), George Burt's book "The Art of Film Music", how (and if) our parents' choice of music formed us, parallels between popular culture ("pop" music) and film music, director Jerzy Skolimowski (THE SHOUT, and my favourite, DEEP END)... gosh, so many other things which I'm sure the others will fill us in on...
Oh, and above all, our very special guest star, MULLENDORE!!!!! ("The name's Mullendore, Joseph Mullendore.")
Thanks for hosting, Thor. My liver hasn't had such a bad time since the last time.

Ah but then I couldn't have played the Token American, something I've always wanted to happen! Either way, tremendous discussion all 'round. And a bloody good job of discussing Banshees without spoiling anything. Oh and how does it feel not having existed for 13.8 billion years. Sort've puts thing in perspective vis-a-vis three of us from last evening's party having corresponded at this place for a whole 25 years, hmm?
BANSHEES still sounds like film that is NOT my cup of tea (I have a problem with dialogue-heavy films in general), but between the discussions in the chat, as well as various feedback from colleagues, I should really watch it just to be on top of things.
But glad you enjoy the role as "Token American", Howard. I sometimes think you might get frustated when your many references to your 'personal cosmos' (baseball, The Twilight Zone, old US television or films etc.) don't get the feedback you want from the rest of us -- as we're either too young or too European to catch it. But I dig it anyway!

Your memory is not faulty, Nicolai. You weren't actually there. Just this big cardboard cutout of Mullendore, with all these ever-changing images of his millions of album covers as a background.
I must admit, I'm lost with baseball. I'm lost with football too, but the American shows mentioned by Howard do mostly ring a bell with me, and sometimes more than a mere bell, sometimes it's a big giant ding-dong. We got most of them on Brit telly when I was growing up. I don't remember the original runs of the shows unless they were after the late-'60s, but most of them came up again as re-runs.
One show which I never saw (it was only shown, I believe sporadically, on some ITV regions) is 12 O'CLOCK HIGH. But I have ordered the LLL discs. Why? Because I have the other three Queen Martin releases, and I couldn't ignore His Majesty Queen Martin IV. Now, that does show signs of mental illness.

Btw when I called out “Hi, Hershey!” and got up that was to pet a neighbor’s dog. He’s cocoa brown and now you know why they call him that. Bad thing when you know the names of all the dogs more than you know the names of their owners.
I am sorry to have missed this past Cheers meeting. Sadly, I was stuck at work.
With respect to your comment Howard, I have to admit that I am guilty of knowing the names of several neighborhood dogs without having the first idea the names of the owners. I have met them all walking our dogs around the neighborhood and when we give introductions, the human names are almost instantly forgotten while I seem to remember the names of the dogs.
