Here's a hidden gem for you: the 1998 Volcano release from Japan. Content-wise, a straight reissue of the original Varese release but with alternate cover art (as was Volcano's modus operandi). I bought a bunch of their releases in the late '90s before they ceased operations, but much to my ultimate chagrin, I eventually unloaded most of them in favor of their expanded counterparts. Most are quite rare now, and this one, which I fortunately had the sense to hold onto, isn't even listed on discogs.

The Volcano release of The Fog is pretty cool, too, and thankfully also still resides in my collection:

Still kicking myself for breaking up with Supergirl, though. mad

Indeed. Volcano issued some pretty awesome covers over the years. I have a few, including Total Recall and L.A. Confidential.

I’m looking for several old school Varese editions - the JVC pressings - partly because of the great covers - Escape being exhibit A - partly out of nostalgia and partly because I enjoy the album programs.

I don’t see any Varese logos on the Supergirl CD. Is that the Japanese equivalent of the Silva Screen. Incidentally, I own the original Varese and it will only be pried from my cold dead fingers.

Yeah, must be. The Varese CD is on my wish list.

The old pre-barcode Varese CDs that were manufactured in Japan are top quality. Once in a while I'll get one in its original bulletproof jewel case and my heart goes all a'flutter.

Yep. Love em. I recently purchased the Varese Gorky Park precisely for those reasons.
