It's ridiculous that "search within topics" won't bring up any topics even if you use a specific word or name.

I know, I'm sorry. I've asked. Best way to search is just use Google, honestly. Sorry!

Type into the Google search bar:

site:filmscoremonthly.com

...and follow with your search terms. Works very well and restricts the results to FSM.

I actually started doing that a while back.

I find that typing "FSM" in addition to the subjects you searching for works very well!

Actually, Google does not yield all results.

Many times, I've searched for an FSM thread on Google, and it doesn't even have a single hit. Then I've done the same search here on FSM, and after getting, say, 10 pages worth of mostly irrelevant hits (I think it includes name hits within threads themselves, even if you specify "topic titles only"), there is suddenly the one, or several that I'm looking for. It takes a bit of time, and quick scrolling, but one should do BOTH to be on the safe side.

More worrying is the "Service not available" white screen that appears with more frequent intervals now, but they fortunately don't last as long as they used to.

The best way to find if a topic has been discussed and after I try the search function (which does not help), I open a new topic and sure enough someone on FSM will let me know if it has been discussed. And provides me where to find it

This is exactly what I do. I just type in a subject and end with FSM. No special phrases either. 9 out of 10 times I find what I'm looking for on the very first search page. Also, this will obviously work in any search engine. I use Duck Duck Go.

That's when the "fetal position under the table"-part kicks in, right?

Can relate. We (my company) momentarily do not have a search engine on our site. The architecture makes impossible to let it work properly. I decided that it was for the best to prevent any frustration and skip it all together.

I find that most search engines on site I come across are crap too.

I get that all the time!

Uh...TILT. I have found site:filmscoremonthly.com/board followed by a key word (and/or phrase in " ") very helpful over the years. It can be frustrating at times, though, when some kind of offsetting factor inhibits finding a thread that invariably is especially important to me.

The best way to find if a topic has been discussed is to start a new thread on the topic, after which 3-6 people will helpfully provide links to a previous discussion wink

Or bookmark every thread you think you’ll revisit again in the future.

Nah. I just think to myself, "The FSM nerds will just have to wait to read my unassailable Star Track, The Star War, Jimmy Bond, and Louisiana Jones arguments."
