https://quartetrecords.com/product/buffalo-kids/ Ref: QR565 Availabilty: IN STOCK Categories: CD Quartet Records, in collaboration with Atresmedia Música, presents the new score by renowned composer Fernando Velázquez (THE IMPOSSIBLE, A MONSTER CALLS, CRIMSON PEAK, ALMA) for a funny and emotive animated film set in the Old West! The film is about two parentless Irish siblings who arrive in New York City via an ocean liner and quickly find themselves on a wild, cross-country journey aboard an orphan train where they meet an extraordinary new friend who will change their lives forever. Fueled by curiosity, friendship and teamwork, their dangerous and discovery-filled quest will introduce them to devious villains, unexpected heroes and surprising adventures in their heart-warming and hilarious search for a home. Sounds awesome. I'm definitely a fan of this world where Spanish animated features in various random genres allow Velazquez to explore whatever idiom of classic film music he wants. What I love about Fernando’s work is that it clearly reflects his deep appreciation for the heritage of film music. Fernando understands what the great film composers achieved. He doesn’t try to imitate them, nor should he, as his own voice is strong and distinct. Instead, he evokes the same feelings we might have experienced when listening to a score by Herrmann, Bernstein, Silvestri, or Horner. That requires talent and a careful balance. This is a fine orchestral work, as all of Fernando’s scores are! Chris

Now streaming and available for download -- a totally delightful score. Velázquez obviously had a lot of fun with this one.

This also came today. Playing as I write. So far it's very good. Melodic, lush in places. There's definitely some 'yeehaa' moments, plus a touch of Irish jig/Chieftans in others.
