The hallowed Missing in Action Trilogy has two scores by Jay Chattaway, but the middle score was composed by Brian May.

James Horner- Star Trek

I don't mind that James didn't get to do Voyage Home, Lenny's music is my very favourite Trek score. Plus the story was a break away from the darker and dramatic twofer of Khan and Search, even though it tied up the story with a bow.

I agree he did a great job on TVH and it’s one of my favorite Trek scores but I would have loved if Horner finished the Trilogy. I know the mood of the film is vastly different but it’s most certainly a continuation of the two previous movies. I could see Horner providing a “Cocoon” style soundtrack for TVH.

Not to be pedantic, but many of the franchises mentioned so far went far beyond trilogies, so maybe the subject line should read "Didn't finish the film series".

Why does your 'trilogy' begin with the 2nd feature film and ignore ST:TMP?

Agreed. And why does God need a Starship?
