The electrifying soundtrack to the lost 1984 ninja film, New York Ninja! This 30-track album was composed for the John Liu film, originally filmed in 1984.
Just after principal photography wrapped on NYN, the film lost funding and was never edited or completed. Vinegar Syndrome acquired the unedited camera negatives around 2018 and painstakingly assembled and finished the film. Since all sound elements were lost, voice over actors, like Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Linnea Quigley, Michael Berryman, Leon Isaac Kennedy, Ginger Lynn Allen, Cynthia Rothrock were hired to voice all the dialog as well as Voyag3r to compose an original score."
Released worldwide via Battle Chamber Music (Digital, CD and Cassette) Licensed to Mondo / Death Waltz Recordings (Vinyl)
New York Ninja, the motion picture, is available from Vinegar Syndrome on blu-ray.
Hi Josh, when you have received the CD, can you confirm that it is factory pressed ? I had send a email to the store sometime last year and unfortunately never received an answer.
Cool track and album! Very much up my alley. Thanks for the heads-up, Josh! I love VOYAG3R.
I had to google around a bit, because I know it's popular to create these "fake" 80s films for which various synthwave artists then compose scores as if it had been a thing at the time (for example Ilya Santana's B MOVIE 1984 or the MIDNIGHT DEMON albums by Turquoise Moon), but this appears to be legit enough, i.e. new, old-style score for a real, restored 1984 film.
You're welcome, gents! Like you, Thor, I was skeptical that it might be one of those "fake" soundtracks to an imaginary film, so I was relieved it's legit.
I'll report back once the CD is in hand and confirm if it's pressed or CD-R. Either way, I'm stoked! Beats, synths, guitars, THEMES... really looking forward to it.

Got it today, spinning it now, and it's totally fkn rad. Score is so much fun. Factory-pressed silver CD, not CDr. Cool artwork and film stills. A+ all around.
Fascinating. Thanks, Sarge. I didn't realize what a massive undertaking this project was. Luckily, I just checked my local library, and the blu-ray is available for checkout, so I requested it. Can't wait!
