JURASSIC WORLD---Gareth Edwards (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY) is in "final negotiations" to direct the latest sequel in the dinosaur movie franchise.
THE BEATLES---Sam Mendes and Sony Pictures are developing four biomovies that will the story of The Beatles from the perspective of each Beatle---Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon and George Harrison.
SAM AND VICTOR'S DAY OFF---David Katzenberg will direct the FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF spinoff movie about the two Chicago valets who took Cameron's father's Ferrari for a joy ride.
WEDNESDAY---Jenna Ortega commented on Season 2, “I’ve just been reading scripts. By the time we actually start shooting, it will have been over two years since we wrapped. So internally, mentally, I’m like, ‘Okay, do I start prepping myself now?’ I don’t consider myself Method or anything like that, but I do think it’s very normal for actors to naturally acclimate or take in the surroundings of their characters, especially when you’re doing something like that for so long.
It might be time to start getting a little more sarcastic again or watching different movies again to get into the mindset. But even reading scripts has been exciting, seeing all of the new characters that are coming in. We’re definitely expanding on the supernatural world. Our show had all sorts of werewolves and vampires and da-ta-da. And I think we expand on that a little bit.
I mean, in the first season we had episodes that really stood out visually, like the dance episode was a really big one for people, and that setting was very particular and it felt like PROM NIGHT, a little bit, or CARRIE. Every episode [of season two] that I’ve read so far is like that. It just stands out on its own as a very memorable scene or bit or setting, which I think is what I’m most excited for, because to pull that off for eight episodes is, I think, really incredible and really lucky.”
TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY---creator Nic Pizzolatto posted new criticism of NIGHT COUNTRY in which he said the sequel series is a "hot mess" and writer Issa Lopez "butchered" his original series. Co-star Kali Reis replied, “That’s a damn shame. But hey I guess ‘if you don’t have anything good to share, sh*t on others’ is the new wave lol.”
NUREMBERG---Colin Hanks and Mark O'Brien will star in the movie based on the book THE NAZI AND THE PSYCHIATRIST in which Dr. Gustav Gilbert is assigned to evaluate Nazi war criminals during the Nuremberg Trials.
SAVE THE GREEN PLANET---Emma Stone is in talks to star in the Yorgos Lanthimos remake of the South Korean dark comedy movie about a man who kidnaps and tortures a businessman who is supposedly part of an alien invasion.
SALEM'S LOT---Stephen King commented on Warner Bros. not releasing the movie remake of the tv miniseries based on his vampire novel, ”Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new SALEM’S LOT, and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the f**king things.”
TRIVIA---the 1963 war epic 55 DAYS AT PEKING starred Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner and David Niven. During filming, Gardner's disruptive behavior became a major problem. She often arrived on the film set drunk, late and argued with director Nicholas Ray by demanding script rewrites. She also walked off the set because an extra took her photograph. Heston said screenplay writer Ben Barzman solved the problem by killing off Gardner's character, Baroness Natalie Ivanoff, who suffered fatal shrapnel wounds. Heston suggested Gardner's lines be given to Paul Lukas, the doctor in her death scene.

How can they do a sequel to Ferris Bueller now-those actors are bloody ancient so will have to recast or de-aged which seems a waste of time for 2 characters who got maybe 2 minutes screen time in the original.

Hollywood has basically knowingly placed rakes all over the place and acts surprised each time they Sideshow Bob themselves.

Not sure why Gareth Edwards wants to put himself through that grinder, he is a pretty smart guy, and just recently made a pretty independent mid budget film, The Creator. Sounds like he is going into a shredder of disappointment.
I also think Edwards is a smart filmmaker who deserves better than this but money talks and people have families to support. If he takes the gig he takes it under the guise that his family has a roof under their head and food to eat and he also gets to make a studio movie with dinosaurs in it from a franchise that inspired him at a young age.
yeah, I am sure that is it, the notorious 'paycheck gig" . There was once a somewhat interesting independent film maker- Colin Trevorrow, and we all see what happened with that paycheck gig.
The spirit and vibe of these films is nothing even close to the first film, or even the second.
I wish him luck, but these have become like Terminator knock-offs with dinos
My roof is 'over' my head, but, yeah, they are so crazy in California.
