Does the Red volume have the version of HELP! with the orchestral opening?
Nope, it just comes in Help! I've never heard any other version, maybe it was on the American soundtrack LP?* So far I've only bought the Red album, as it's full of new stereo mixes & sounds very good, I will buy the new Blue album sometime.
*I found a video about it on YouTube, & the orchestral bit is by Ken Thorne.
I've never been big into vocalists though I don like their more popular tunes. I got most but not all of the remasters back in they day. I haven't gotten these yet.
henry, what are some of your favorite Beatles songs?
Hi Indy1981! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I really like IN MY LIFE, YESTERDAY and I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND, but most of their songs are excellent.
I was at Target yesterday and saw both of these -- which is surprising because I didn't know it was still legal for Target to carry any other artist than Taylor Swift!
BTW, henry, did you ever get 'round to listening to the Blue collection? If so, what did you think?
It's so odd to see the "new", additional tracks on the red and blue albums, though it makes perfect sense to fill out the longer CD runtime.
It's even more odd on the new vinyl editions, where the new tracks are relegated to a third disc for each collection, out of chronology. So, you have "I Saw Her Standing There" following "Yellow Submarine". Yeeesh. Talk about confusing to new Beatles buyers...
So, I already own CDs of every Beatles album individually, both British Apple and U. S. Capitol iterations, including the latest remasterings of which I am aware (2009 and beyond). Aside from the "new" (A.I.-jerry-rigged) rendition of the old unreleased John Lennon tune, is there any reason to pick up either the blue or the red album? Seriously.

I could be wrong, but I thought the only real A.I.-jerry-rigging was electronically separating John's voice from the piano that it was once married to on the original demo.
