Oh, R.I.P. Sure OUTLAND comes immediately to mind, as does THE MYST.

I remember her best from OUTLAND.

As I posted in the Movie/TV trivia a long time ago, OUTLAND had two CHEERS cast members---John Ratzenberger (mailman Cliff Clavin) played the miner who disconnected his oxygen hose and blew up in his space suit, and Frances Sternhagen (Clavin's mother) played Dr. Lazarus.

"Don't be maudlin!"

(her line from OUTLAND) smile

Sternhagen was also good in THE HOSPITAL as Mrs. Cushing, the hospital insurance processor.

Mrs. Cushing : "Dr. Spezio. I think one of your patients in here is dead, Dr. Spezio."

Dr. Spezio : "Why do you say that, Mrs. Cushing?"

Mrs. Cushing : "Because he wouldn't give me his Blue Cross number, Dr. Spezio."

What TV series did she do in the 70's that I'm remembering?

Well, in the 80s she did a stint on ER as Noah WhatsHisName's mother. In her classic deadpan serious style.

Never watched it. I'm remembering something else. Imdb is looking a mess these days, so I wonder if it's not there.

Read the obit in NY Times and I forgot that she played the librarian in Up The Down Staircase which is a favorite New York film. It was her film debut.
