Just the other day Swedish Television had that concert/father & son conversation program and the conversation between Clint and Kyle was really interesting. When it comes to the actual concert I was somewhat disappointed since it is titled Eastwood Symphonic and yes they had a symphonic orchestra conducted by Gast Waltziing. However most of the music that was chosen was the more jazz kind of music and yes it made sense since Clint Eastwood is a jazz fan but those few pieces that was not originally scored as jazz pieces had strangely enough jazz arrangements. Such as The Ennio Morricone music. Those are not jazz but with that arrangement it sounded more jazz than it should. I barely recognized those pieces.

So what did you think of it?

I like it, as I do the album they put out earlier this year. If you're going to rearrange, then go the radical route and go all the way, I say. THE EIGER SANCTION is my favourite. It was always jazzy to begin with, so the leap isn't that big. I believe we discussed this project in another thread recently, btw.

I enjoyed the album for what it was and think it was the right approach for the Eastwoods to focus more on the jazzier parts of the film scores and to "jazz up" the other scores.
They created a coherent musical listening experience, rather than a "compilation" with "best of" themes from Eastwood movies, and that's a good thing.
