As a devoted John Williams fan since the 1960s, I look at these gigantic composer COMPENDIUMS with an eye to:
"So is any music NEW here?"
Slim pickins, folks. How many times can they reshuffle, reorganize, and repackage the same old Williams music?
I guess we'll see. For the more novice collector, this might be a good choice. For us veteran Williams fans, we might
have a little more interest in the book part of the release.
I keep reading that 97% of the music-buying public is doing it digitally, and only 3% are doing it on CD.
So is this a limited edition? Haha - I wonder - when are they going to announce the 150-LP set?
AMAZON USA doesn't list it yet.
AMAZON FRANCE has the set priced for 90 Euros with a release date of November 24th, if I read my French right.

Not being a Williams Completist, here's a lot on here that would be new to me. Plus some very interesting choices from albums I do have.
Not to mention the usual "smells like the composer was involved" picks as well. Also curious to know of the Raiders cues are back to their original pitch.
The discs covering the 70's look most satisfying.
It looks like a fine overview of his career and a beautiful presentation. If this were 15 years ago when I had a lot more throwaway money, I'd be all over it.
