SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL---trailer released for the thriller movie starring Nicolas Cage.

THE OUT-LAWS---trailer released for the comedy heist movie starring Pierce Brosnan.

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS---new trailer released for the sequel.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtuFgnxQMrA

REBEL MOON---photos released from the two-part Zack Snyder/Netflix movie that was originally Snyder's concept for a STAR WARS movie that was turned down by Lucasfilm. Each movie will be streamed in two cuts. Snyder said the first cut is a general cut “anyone can enjoy and watch" and the second cut is “for fans of mine and people who are ready to take a deeper, harder dive, that’ll be fun for them.”

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD---photo from the film set shows Anthony Mackie as Captain America and Harrison Ford as Gen. Thunderbolt Ross with torn pants. This led to fan speculation that the torn pants indicates Gen. Ross will transform into Red Hulk in the sequel.

MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE---Chris Hemsworth commented on the criticism of the MCU by Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino, "That’s super depressing when I hear that. There goes two of my heroes I won’t work with. I guess they’re not a fan of me."

PERRY MASON---HBO cancelled the series.

BRYAN SINGER---director Bryan Singer is developing documentary which will address allegations that he sexually assaulted teenage boys which led to him being fired as the director of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY.

TRIVIA---actress Finn Carter is perhaps best known for playing seismologist Rhonda LeBeck, Kevin Bacon's love interest in the sci fi movie TREMORS. Carter is the daughter of journalist Hodding Carter, the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs, who became famous as the State Department sopkesman in the Jimmy Carter Administration during the Iranian hostage crisis and the disastrous military mission to rescue the hostages.
After TREMORS, Carter appeared on CHINA BEACH, LAW & ORDER, ER, NYPD BLUE, CSI and MURDER, SHE WROTE.
Carter's career stalled and her last publicized appearance was in 2019 when she stood before a Las Vegas judge after she was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and 14 counts of possessing a credit card without the owner's consent.

How sad. I really enjoyed season 1 and 2.

TRIVIA---actress Finn Carter

That's really sad. Looks like she's mostly done one and done TV appearances.
I just watched Tremors last year and really enjoyed the whole cast.

I got news for ya Zack, I won't be "enjoying" either of your cuts. big grin

Zack Snyder, talk about a guy who really got a whiff of his own supply and a militant cult following. He was a fascinating filmmaker there briefly. A great start with the admirable remake of Dawn of the Dead, a flash in the pan follow-up that solidified his "visionary voice" (yawn), and then an actually produced adaptation of an unadaptable comic book treasure (opinions on it vary but it is a modern cult classic). He was like Leni Riefenstahl hooked up to a supply of Mountain Dew and 90s comic books. I can't say anything he has done since Watchmen was worth the exhaustive conversation around them, but we'd all be so lucky to have at least half of the internet's forever-15-year-olds call us the Greatest Director That Ever Lived.

More accurately, Heavy Metal (1977-present) and The Dark Knight Returns (1986). cool

While I loved Frank Miller's work on Daredevil, Ronin, The Dark Knight, Batman: Year One and early Sin City, I was never into 300. It was years before I finally saw the film. I've not seen Sucker Punch or Army of the Dead.

Watchmen is awesome. So are Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Yeah, likewise. Watching a movie that is directed as if it is a cut scene from an X Box game doesn’t appeal to me at all, especially since I imagine there will also be loads of action sequences that are slowed waaaaaaaaaay down and go on for ages, since that seems to be the only way he can shoot action. I remember the scene in Justice League where Flash is diving to catch wonder Woman (or the other way round) which went on so long i’m sure i went to the restroom, then the concessions, ate a hotdog, returned to the theatre and the scene was still going on.

Each to their own of course, and I totally respect your view, but personally i’m the polar opposite and think all of those films are garbage. Literally, the only scene i’d rate out of any of them is the opening credits of Watchman.

I’ll give Synder props for casting Gal Gadot though. She can’t act but she is very nice to watch.

Yeah, I know most of the members here despise Zack and his aesthetic. I don't like everything he's done (looking at you, 300), but he's nowhere near deserving of the vitriol hurled at him these last few years.

But I'm "that guy" who hates stuff like Titanic and Avatar. I bet just about everybody here loves those movies.

Agreed.

So are Man of Steel

Yes, this film is quite good, particularly the Krypton sequences. I felt the final battle went on a bit too long and Kal-El should have spent a little more time expressing concern for all of the people being killed in the collateral damage but overall, I liked it a whole lot and wish they did a few more solo films before jumping into the team ups.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The Ultimate Cut, agreed. The theatrical isn't that great. At least it addresses my concerns expressed about MoS. Again, I wish Affleck had solo outings as Batman before this team up.

Zack Snyder's Justice League.

While I would have ended it sooner (leaving out the future stuff and closing it as Martian Manhunter flew off) and trimmed it up a bit, I agree it is MILES better than the theatrical.

I like Snyder's vision of the DCU even if it is self indulgent and "Michael Bay" ish.

Yes, the BvS UC! Best Bat-action EVER!!

I so wanted Ben's Batman movie to happen. WB has been a constant case of "too many cooks" meddling with DC the last ten years.

So true on the Heavy Metal and TDKR mention! Although it always seemed like Snyder really loved the section about Batman and Superman battling it out (and removing the political satire of Supes being a US government pawn at this stage of his career).

As someone who has seen both Sucker Punch and Army of the Dead... you ain't missing much. Snyder should always have someone else write his movies. I think if he came across a great script (the Dawn of the Dead remake may be the closest) I think he could be cooking!

I like Titanic a lot. It's one of the last great and true Hollywood epics. I couldn't get into Avatar, and tried a re-watch before the new one came out as I tried to "get myself on board" but I gave up fairly quickly once I remembered what a braindead dolt the lead character was. The sequel just came to stream on HBOMax this week so I think I may still give it my time and set low expectations.

I was extremely disappointed in "Sucker Punch". I thought it was going to be a like a fun live action anime. Instead it was some decrepit depressing psycho farce. Though in fairness I didn't know much about Snyder or his style back then.

BvS had one good action sequence, in my opinion, with the warehouse rescue. Thankfully the Batman Arkham games set the expectations and the filmmakers just had to draw the reference. I'd rather play those games again any day than have to watch the movie, unfortunately. While the hand to hand combat in the Nolan movies followed the Bourne Trilogy method of action choreography and shot coverage and staccato editing, the action beyond those is pretty amazing compared to anything Snyder cooked up in the green screen studio: multiple vehicle chases with practical stunts and mayhem, large scale explosions and crowd sequences (with actual physical extras), and a daring escape from a Hong Kong skyscraper, and more. I'm sorry but those are the high points despite individual thoughts on the movies themselves. Classic old school filmmaking. I quite liked the action in the new movie, The Batman. Hopefully a sequel can expand upon what was set there and the product can improve.
