I'm sure the box would be useful for something...how to get its contents to Goodwill, for example...

I think I know where Ford got this idea... The idea was suggested by one of our friends and writer David Hirsch..... Ford A. Thaxton

Absolutely blown away by some of the stuff in this box -- Brian May, Craig Safan, Richard Band, Tangerine Dream, Akira Ifukube, Ernest Gold, Elmer Bernstein, Les Baxter, John Scott, Shostakovich... so glad that I (ehrm I mean my dad) got the chance to pick up one of these incredible boxes. There's even a DVD of John Debney's Passion Oratorio!! Not as familiar with some of the classical releases but can't WAIT to dig into all of these albums. Thanks again BOSSES, hope everyone has a GREAT Father's Day

I for one don’t think you should be worried about “spoiling” anything by telling us how you like any albums in the box! (I’d be interested in how you like the classical albums too!) Yavar

I think this may be my first post on here after reading and enjoying various discussions over the years. I for one am very happy with the surprise box. I will not spoil anything for anyone but there were some excellent finds in there as well as some titles that I'll be happy to try but were not on any short list of mine. Only two titles that I already owned out of the whole box for which my brother (also a father) will be most thankful! Thanks Ford and the entire BSX team! You made me a happy father well before father's day too! Michael We hope that you enjoy everything in the box and perhaps will find a few buried treasures among them. Ford A. Thaxton

Did all 10 recipients get this spectacular box prior to June 18th? Aside from one box that was sent to Norway (Which once it goes international, who knows what happens), everyone else got their in plenty of time. Ford A. Thaxton

I really appreciated the box! A great price for a ton of great music, more CDs than advertised and the DVD everyone mentioned above as well. One of my fears was that it might include a bunch of BSX/etc stuff that I already had, but there was only one disc I already owned. Going to take me a long time to work through it, especially because I’m a bit backlogged (my listening habits have had to change a bit in the years since becoming a father, how appropriate). The ones I’ve listened to already, alphabetically from the top of the pile, were: Adventures in Dinosaur City (Teetsel), Alien Trespass (Febre), All the Rivers Run (Rowland), Ballad of a Gunfighter (Fox), and Basil Poledouris Collection v3 (Tintoretto/Dolphin). All of them were good listens that fit well in their respective genre. The Poledouris release had lots of really pretty stuff - and quite a bit of cheesy pop, but that was the era! Dinosaur City was a fun little ‘90s adventure score for a movie I’d never heard of - the orchestral stuff was quite nice. Funny to hear in the notes that the directors had asked the composer to ape Elfman who was in his heyday, much to the composer’s chagrin. I don’t know if I’d have noticed if he hadn’t mentioned it, but a few of the kookier parts have that tone to them. All in all a successful Fathers Day gift - thanks for the opportunity, BSX!

Just ordered on iTunes Dinosaur City based on this recommendation and the one other album by the same composer Frederick Ensign Teetsel. It’s called Haunting Morella. Like it because it’s classic horror. It’s unlike the horror today which is drums uncomfortable sounds, moans, and shock value.
