TOM CLANCY'S JACK RYAN---trailer released for the last season.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM---trailer released for the animated movie.

BLADE RUNNER---Harrison Ford recently said Deckard really was a replicant, "I always knew that I was a replicant. I just wanted to push back against it though. I think a replicant would want to believe that they're human. At least this one did."

BEST SERVED COLD---Rebecca Ferguson is in talks to star as mercenary Monza Murcatto in the movie based on the FIRST LAW WORLD books.

THREAD: AN INSIDIOUS TALE---Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiami will star in this INSIDIOUS spinoff movie in which a couple use dark forces to travel back into time to save their daughter but with dire consequences.

LOST---Damon Lindelof commented on accusations of racism and a toxic work environment during the filming of LOST in the new book BURN IT DOWN, "My level of fundamental inexperience as a manager and a boss, my role as someone who was supposed to model a climate of creative danger and risk-taking but provide safety and comfort inside of the creative process – I failed in that endeavor.
I was like, OK, as long as there are one or two [writers] who don’t look and think exactly like me, then, then I’m OK. I came to learn that was even worse. For those specific individuals, forget about the ethics or the morality involved around that decision, but just talking about the human effect of being the only woman or the only person of color and how you are treated and othered — I was a part of that, a thousand percent.
The way that I conduct myself and the way that I treat other humans who I am responsible for and a manager of is a by-product of all the mistakes that were made… I have significantly evolved and grown, and it shouldn’t have had to come at the cost and the trauma of people that I hurt on LOST."

DEADPOOL 3---a source claims the sequel will have Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), Cyclops (James Marsden) and an X-Men movie villain and a Marvel villain.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET---Robert Englund said he will not return as Freddy Krueger because he is too old, “I know who icons are. I’m not an icon. Maybe Freddy Krueger is, but I’m not. I’m just a character actor, a utility actor who’s been very lucky. I’m too old and thick to play Freddy now. I just can’t do fight scenes for more than one take anymore, I’ve got a bad neck and bad back and arthritis in my right wrist. So I have to hang it up, but I would love to cameo.”
He added that Kevin Bacon would be a good choice as his successor, “I know he respects the genre, and he’s such a fine physical actor. I think that in the silences and in the way Kevin moves – it would be interesting.”

TRIVIA---trivia for May 31, 2023 which is Clint Eastwood's 93rd birthday.
In HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, some of the graveyard headstones not visible in the scene have the names of Eastwood's directors: Sergio Leone (THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY), Don Siegel (DIRTY HARRY) and Brian G. Hutton (WHERE EAGLES DARE). Eastwood said about the headstones, "I buried my directors."

HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER graveyard.

Sergio Leone directed Eastwood in THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY and other spaghetti Westerns.

Don Siegel directed Eastwood in DIRTY HARRY and other movies.

Brian G. Hutton directed Eastwood in WHERE EAGLES DARE and KELLY'S HEROES.

I will never for the life of me understand why believing Deckard is a replicant makes for a better movie plot. He's not super tough/strong like a replicant, he should already be dead (life span) like a replicant, as a fellow human, I can understand why he may be having second thoughts of gunning down (some) replicants that just want to live, why do the other replicants know they are replicants, but he doesn't (except Rachel-a new model), etc?

"Accept the mystery," is my favorite turn of phrase when it comes to Deck-a-Rep theories later in my life. I was staunchly "not a Replicant" for ages. Similar to Nightingale above. The text of the film and PKD's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep just doesn't support it. But BR2049 rightfully danced around the "answer" by presenting the larger mystery from a new perspective of identity and existentialism. Deckard simply states, "I know what I am." I think the mystery is more important, and more enlightening, than the answer. We all have the ability to reflect on who we are.

What does Ford know? He probably can't remember what he had for breakfast. And no, he was never a replicant.

It's all just headline fodder, really.
Tomorrow he'll say that he actually loved doing the voiceover.

If Deckard was a Replicant, wouldn't he be "retired" instead of being allowed to quit? Wouldn't he fritz out performing Voight Kampff tests? Wouldn't Tyrrell himself be able to figure it out and say something?

Meh, I never subscribed to the "Deckard as Replicant" thing. It doesn't add anything to the final story and in fact kind of weakens it. Deckard was human with less feeling than the machines he's hunting. He recognizes the value of life and the lives of Replicants by taking a chance and running off with Rachel - she may not have the same limited lifespan.

Leave the Cop-Replicant angle to the guy from the birthday cards in the sequel.

All anyone has to do is look at the fight between Deckard and Batty. One is clearly super human while the other is clearly, human.

And Leon. Deckard was getting his ass handed to him throughout the movie. If he IS a Replicant, he's the...

Worst. Replicant. Ever.

Yes as a viewer of the film (and human), I empathize with Deckard AS a human (with all the human weakness' and many disadvantages). I can't empathize as much with a replicant in Deckard's role.
