I caught the recent TCM screening of a restored version. It included an overture (accompanied by an image from the titles sequence). Was this part of the original? Perhaps a cut-and-paste job like SPARTACUS? The sound was exceedingly dry and shrill.

I’m not entirely certain, but I think the overture may be the music written for the trailer. However, I can’t say whether it was part of the original release or not.
