...from "Best" to "Worst". Or, more accurately, from your "Favorite" to your "Least favorite".

Having recently seen RETURN OF THE JEDI at the theater for its 40th anniversary, and seeing that certain select theaters will be showing all 11 live action Star Wars feature films on May 26, I got to thinking about which of the films I'd like to see on the big screen again. (Classic OT, certainly!) However, the films I'd pick first to see at the theater, oddly, aren't necessarily at the top of my list of favorites. And how I rank the films according to how much I like them, is probably very different than how most viewers rate them.

How would you rank the 11 live action STAR WARS feature films, from "favorite" to "least favorite"? (I excluded "The Clone Wars" movie from my list, but if you want to include it in yours, feel free. Also, "The Star Wars Holiday Special", because it's not a feature film.)

There's no "right" or "wrong"; it's *your* list...

Here's Mine:

!) A New Hope
2) Revenge of the Sith
3) Return of the Jedi
4) The Phantom Menace
5) Solo: A Star Wars Story
6) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
7) The Empire Strikes Back
8) Attack of the Clones
9) The Force Awakens
10) The Rise of Skywalker
11) The Last Jedi

The only ones I think are any good as Star Wars (AKA A New Hope), The Empire Strikes Back, and Rogue One. I enjoy much of Solo but its so slight as a movie and leaves no impact after it is over.

Empire
Star Wars
Return of the Jedi
Sith
Rogue One
Force Awakens
Phantom Menace
Clones
Last Jedi
Rise
Solo

For me there's something to like in all 11 films.

Rise gets a thumbs up just because John Williams is in it for three seconds. smile

A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back

... then the rest!

This.

And my ranking would be roughly:

1. Star Wars (*****)
2. The Empire Strikes Back (*****)

3. Attack of the Clones (***)
4. The Return of The Jedi (***)
5. The Revenge of the Sith (**1/2)
6. The Phantom Menace (**1/2)

7. The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi etc, I didn't care for all that much, would have to re-watch them to rank them.

I also enjoyed Rogue One

1. The Last Jedi
2. Rogue One
3. The Force Awakens
4. Solo
5. The Clone Wars (2008... the Pong Krell arc would've made a far better movie)
6. The Rise of Skywalker

The Holy Saga (I-VI) is beyond any mere list.

STAR WARS & EMPIRE STRIKES BACK are way above everything else for me and are hard to separate, fave-wise, although I have a slight preference for TESB. So they're 1/2.

After that, much further down, it would be ...

    3/Return Of The Jedi
    4/Solo A SW Story
    5/The Phantom Menace
    6/The Force Awakens
    7/Revenge Of The Sith
    8/Attack Of The Clones
    9/The Rise Of Skywalker
    10/Rogue One
    11/The Last Jedi

    1/2. Star Wars
    2/1. The Empire Strikes Back

    3. The Force Awakens
    4. Rogue One

    5. Solo
    6. Return of the Jedi

    7. Revenge of the Sith

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .

    8. Attack of the Clones
    9. The Rise of Skywalker
    10. The Phantom Menace

    .
    .
    .
    .

    11. The Last Jedi

I struggle to decide what's worse: the prequel trilogy (my complaints include dated and overused CGI, but even worse is the wooden acting with Hayden Christensen at the top of the list, topped by the absolutely wretched writing with "characters" with no CHARACTER and cringeworthy dialogue that no actor could effectively pull off) or the narrative atrocities committed in the character paths portrayed in the sequel trilogy's two final films Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker. Both eras appear to be made by people seeming to have completely forgotten what made the other films great (or at least beloved, as not all are "great").

Both options are depressingly disappointing to me. I so wish that the entire prequel trilogy could be re-written and re-made entirely. Same for the sequel films after The Force Awakens. Could we just re-write and re-make what actually happened before Rogue One and after The Force Awakens long long ago in a galaxy far far away?
