So sorry to hear it. Gunning has always been a fav of mine. FIRELIGHT, POLLYANNA, WILD AFRICA, POIROT....all great, but especially the masterpiece that is COLD LAZARUS.
Sad news. Solid composer who seemed to get type cast in rural country/detective dramas on UK TV. Hearing something like Cold Lazarus highlights what he was capable of in other arenas. I don't have many CD's by him, but I will dig out what I do have and play in honour.
An extraordinary composer. Apart from his film and tv output, I love his symphonies and concertos. I’m particularly fond of his love letter to Mallorca (my home) that is his Guitar concerto. RIP maestro
Sad news indeed. I coincidentally purchased a few days ago the CD gathering his symphonies N°2, 10 & 12, published by Signum Classics. He was a very talented composer and I enjoyed his videos shot at his lovely place in England. Thanks to Bill for supplying to me the POIROT CD at a time where I could not locate it at all over here. The Chandos anthology mentioned above is a real treat to listen to. RIP Maestro.
He composed additional music for Sir Richard Rodney Bennett's score for "Nicholas And Alexandra" and his fine score for "When The Whales Came" was one of his few film scores to be released on C.D.. R.I.P. Christopher Gunning.
He signed my copy of his symphonic Yorkshire Glory cd, had a good laugh that I’d picked it up in a charity shop (he asked where I’d found it) - a meeting I think back on very fondly. RIP, sir.

I bought that original Poirot CD on initial release when the first few Poirot series came out. Was happy to pass it on to a fellow Gunning affionado as it was one of his holy grails. Edit - it says first series was 1989 and CD release was 1992.
