Couldn't find a thread for this, so I thought I'd create one for the score by Astor Piazzolla...I mean, Paul Buckmaster. It's an interesting and erratic score, albeit largely married to the film and too reliant on high trumpets for my taste. However, I'll never forget my bewildered reaction when I heard "Suite Punta Del Este" as part of the opening credits, initially expecting a more straightforward, ominous sound to the film. But in time, I grew to love the way that tango was incorporated into the score; indeed, one could say that it overshadows the underscore for Cole and Railly's relationship. Anyone else a fan, and wouldn't mind seeing the OST in circulation again, or even expanded? The instruments in the film and OST also appear to be placed/mixed differently, so that could be another reason for a reissue.

Huge Piazzolla fan. Shelves and shelves of his music. Saw this film when it came out and thought Piazzolla's music was perfect and really added life to the film. Buckmaster's score I don't remember. I do like his contribution to Miles Davis's controversial On the Corner album from 1972, adding a sort of Stockhausen element to the raga-like funk. Vastly underrated album.

I only remember our own LK refer to the Buckmaster 12 Monkeys material as "generic 70s suspense scoring". Now, that's ingrained in my memory forever! It is a good album, typical wild mix of elements, akin to Gilliam's The Fisher King album. I wanted to add Most Wanted by Buckmaster is a fun 90's action score, cd on Milan. Worth a hearing, if you miss that era of acoustic percussion and suspense scoring. And Elton John. Thus ends the saga of Paul Buckmaster....oh wait, there was an event in the 90's, some BMI award thing, that had a pictorial spread in FSM, where composers wore these...they looked like medallions. Someone will remember this pictorial! Anyway, Buckmaster looks like freaking Dracula in his pics, and I only ever see that Lugosi cum Count Floyd-like stare in my mind when his name comes up. Woooo, scared kids!

Here's an old thread about the film and score... https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=72764&forumID=1&archive=0 Sh!t...I'm turning into Thor Wow! I had completely forgotten that I had posted in that thread. And I was a bit wrong; we do have almost all of the score on CD (albeit with some different mixes), and all that's missing is a variation of "Introduccion" heard just before "Giraffes and Flamingos" and the film version of "Fugitives"
