It’s getting late where I am in Texas. Cool night, had a nice fire and some friends with whiskey and beer. Listened to some Irish Pub songs and told stories. Earlier in the day listened to Far and Away and The Devil’s Own and yesterday the classic The Quiet Man. Those and Angela’s Ashes make up some good Irish film music. Enjoy my film music friends! I’ll toast another to the only group message platform I’ve ever enjoyed and participated in. A unique, small, opinionated and great group of people around the world! God bless!
We gave Elias' Leprechaun 2 a spin last night while enjoying my wife's corned beef tacos (an annual tradition in our house) and bottomless pints of porter and amber ale. Sublime!
Here are my Top Three feature films that involve Ireland, along with three great scores
#01."The Quiet Man" '52 (Victor Young) 02. "Shake Hands With The Devil" '59 (produced by Marlon Brando's production company Pennebaker Productions - Pennebaker was his mother's maiden name) (William Alwyn) 03. "Michael Collins" '96 (Eliot Goldenthal)
And to you all. As it happens I am going through a Goldenthal odyssey and I opened St Patrick’s Day with The Butcher Boy followed by Michael Collins. Two great Goldenthal scores for two Irish films directed by Neil Jordan.
