(Spoilers) In regards to the film Black Sunday, the blimp doesn't have deadly gas, Dern's character built a device that was attached underneath the cab. When the blimp explodes (which alone would kill a lot of people), the device underneath, which is filled with plastique explosives and nails strategically placed, would shoot the nails in all directions. He demonstrates this in a small hanger, killing a security guard who he convinced that his test device was a camera.
