Er.... yeah? This is nothing new: it's been standard in a lot of UK cinemas for a while now. My local Vue offers the same quality seats at different prices the further back you go (plus a couple of rows of allegedly superior "VIP" seats).

If they want people to pay extra they should create a section that bans phones and has seats enclosed in sound proof booths so you only hear the movie you are watching and not the one in the theater next door or the conversations of people around you. So kinda like at home?

Eh for me and my wife, it's a night out. We know going in the ticket's gonna be a certain amount, dinner or food there will be a certain amount and so on. The days of the $1.25 movie with $2 popcorn are well in the dim past. So if it costs me an extra $4 for better seating for us, so be it. If I didn't wanna spend the money at the cinema, we'd just spend it somewhere else. In end, if we have a nice time, it's well worth it.

One thing they do which is a good idea though is a monthly pass which costs GBP10 and you can go see every film once. I think that's a good deal, as it costs that price to see one film anyway! Both AMC and Regal have those plans in the U.S., but they typically cost around $25/month, although there are no limits on how many times or how many films you can watch.

I have had it, basically it pays for itself if you go to a couple movies a month, especially if you have a family member with you I thought the plan was for one individual only. How does having a family member help?
