Can't say Ive ever found an ad campaign endearing. But I adore the General Mills Monster Cereal and Monster Cereal characters. As a kid it was always an exciting time of the year when they hit the store shelves in early fall. I couldn't resist and even purchased the two action figures!

Franken Berry was my favorite but I also enjoyed Count Chocula and Boo Berry. I have no recollection of Fruit Brute or Fruity Yummy Mummy.

You can still purchase them online. Are these cereals still in the stores?

I remember when General Mills first came out with Cocoa Puffs, they were made with Hershey's chocolate, and even promoted it on the front of the box.

Wow. Do they still make these? I remember eating these when I was a kid in the 1970's.

Anyone remember Freakies cereal from the 1970s? I used to collect the little plastic monsters they gave away in each box, but I *never* got a complete set; the boxes would have the same monsters over and over again, and one or two of them were nowhere to be found, at least in my neck of the woods... frown

I don't even remember what the cereal tasted like, just the experience of collecting the plastic "Freaky" monsters.

I don't recall Freakies cereal. Here's a commercial on YT.

Yes, they are still seasonal and come out in September according to Wiki.

the fact that you failed to mention boo berry in the thread title and waited 2 posts to do so tells me you is spoilin' for a nerd war.... smile

Almost as bad as peanut butter and chocolate cereal.

I don't recall them having giveaway toys in them. Maybe my brain was exploding over the thought of monsters+cereal and missed them entirely.....

I know it's not a monster cereal, but I'd like to put in a word for Quisp.

That was my favorite creature cereal - sort of a disc-shaped Captain Crunch thing.

Here's a commercial from the great Jay Ward - never cared for Quake.

As to the nerd war - Count Chocula all the way. Though I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole these days.

Still, always fun to see the boxes in Target every fall.
