According to Mark Seals book "Leave The Gun, Take The Cannoli" ( page 347) Robert Evans and Paramount commissioned Henry Mancini to create a score. Coppola wanted Nino Rota.
Rota was denied an Academy Award nomination because his "Love Theme" was previously used in the film
"Fortunella" at a much faster tempo.

The Godfather sounds amazing. Can't wait to get it.

I look forward to first evaluations on this.

I'm uncertain whether to buy because this score, as an isolated listening experience, strikes me as an uninterrupted full play rather than a rotation of cherry-picked highlights.

If it works well as a long play, I'm in.

For me this isn't one of Rota's best because you get that theme a lot in the movie - but it's still really good Rota, that it's an offer that I can't refuse to buy. Many thanks for this title, it must have been a massive project. Well-done LLL guys.
