I ordered a CD in late September, it was (according to an email from the vendor) shipped in early October and as of today I'm still waiting for it. They are in Europe, I am in North America. What really bugs me is that I emailed them and told them the CD hasn't arrived yet and can they please check what address they mailed it to but they still haven't responded (after at least a week).

I figure it's reasonable to wait 8 weeks after the shipping date they gave me before disputing this with my payment processor.

The worst thing though is they didn't respond to my email wondering where the CD is.

There's my venting for today!

Happens to us all. In most cases I've been able to get a refund. Hopefully they get back to you - if it hasn't arrived it may have been returned to them with an address error.

I bought a CD a few months ago from eBay, the seller was in the UK. Payment was over the Invoice service "Klarna", who bill you only after you received your goods. A trackable shipping label was done, but the order was never actually shipped. A few weeks passed, nothing came. Then one day, perhaps six weeks or so later, Klarna send me the invoice. I told them (via online form) that I received no goods, they told me to contact eBay. I told eBay, and they canceled my order and canceled my bill. Everything was fine. Except I still did not have the CD... went back to eBay... and the same seller is still selling the same CD for the same price. Hmmm... tempted to re-order it.

Hi, who were the vendors in both cases please? I am UK based and buy and sell CDs on ebay and 'know' many of the problem sellers. There are a number selling fake CDs.... Robocop, Hook etc

I wouldn't.

What was the CD you were after? I'm selling mine, perhaps I might have it.

That wouldn't be a certain 'seller' in Nottingham, would it?

The seller was worldofbooksde and seems actually pretty legit. ( https://www.ebay.de/str/worldofbooksde ).

The CD I was after was ANGELS IN AMERICA by Thomas Newman.

I just ordered it again from the same retailer.... it says it will be here at around "December 8th".

As I said, I do not know exactly what the problem was the first time I ordered. I ordered, and a trackable shipping label was printed. Then nothing happened. When I contacted eBay, they asked me if I asked for order cancellation or if I was still interested in receiving the CD. I said I was still interested in receiving the CD. My order was immediately canceled and refunded. I didn't lose any money, so no problem there. Which is why I'm now perfectly willing to give it a second try.

With World Of Books you take pot luck I'm afraid. I have ordered from them many, many times.

You can get incredible deals from them but there is also a chance that the item doesn't turn up and you have to contact them. They should cancel the order. Which has also happened to me many times.

The problem is, they list one item on multiple websites. So if you buy it from Amazon Marketplace and it sold on ebay.co.uk 5 minutes earlier, you're screwed.

World Of Books sell on all the regional variants of Amazon (USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain), regional ebay sites, Abebooks, Biblio... That's a LOT of listings for one item. Whomever buys first gets the item. The other listings can stay up hours before they're taken down.

Thanks for the info. I will wait, and if it won't come, just cancel the order.

No sorry, that's not one of the titles I'm selling.

Elite Soundtracks..... An oxymoron of a company name if ever there was one. An appalling company.

They are forever listing CDs that they don't have and then it is a struggle to get your money back off them.

Avoid is my advice

And it worked on my second try. I received the CD yesterday.

When the CD you ordered doesn't arrive....

Then what you need to do is to go into the corner of your room, hunch down, put your head in your hands and rock back and forth slowly while murmuring to yourself.

The vendor finally contacted me and gave me a tracking number. I looked up the tracking number and from what I can see the item was delivered to his local post office on the day he said he mailed it, but the trail stops with the local post office. It doesn't show the next step of leaving the post office and being placed en route to my country.

My question: if the vendor's local post office lost the package, should he refund me the money? I don't know if it was insured or not. If it's not insured, does the buyer assume the risk? What are the standard practices?
