Continuing SEASON 9:

"Guess Who's Listening to Dinner?"

I took a whole star rating off this episode because the mob boss daughter is annoying and doesn't seem to go with Dan, and I hate when Dan's character rambles -- it's painful to watch and listen to.

Rating: *** ***

"Looking for Mr. Shannon"

A premise that could have been good, but unfortunately, it just plods around and then ends in a quiet fart.

Rating: *** *** *

Bull: "Can we still watch 'The Ten Commandments'?"
Dan: "Better -- we can break seven of them."

"You! You look like you're worth sixty-two fifty!"
Bull: "Really? Thanks."

"Teacher's Pet"

Deja vu plot. We already had an episode seasons ago where Christine faced an older colleague wanting sex. All they did was put a little spin on the plot.

Rating: *** *** *

Christine: "So, what do you think of my face?"
Harry: "It separates your ears nicely."

Christine: "Am I any good?"
Dan: "Only one way to find out."

"The System Works"

An extra star for the whole hilarious scene where Christine reads her kids book. If only the whole episode had been that funny. I do have to say, though, that the writer's approach to how Harry turned the class around, was a brilliant little piece of writing.

Rating: *** *** **

Mac: To Dan, "My imaginations fine; yours should be on a leash."

"In 'your day', dinosaurs roamed the Earth."

Walter: "I would be honored to graduated magnum pi."

Continuing SEASON 9:

"Get Me to the Roof on Time"

Rating: *** *** *

Roz: "You know, if you make me cry, I'm going to have to kill you."

"Santa on the Lam"

An extra star for the back and forth between Dan and the disenfranchised old man who just wanted to be Santa. True in many ways, and really gave Dan some heart. This was a good episode. I'm almost tempted to give it another half star.

Rating: *** *** **

Mac: Dressed as Santa, "You're gonna sit on my lap, aren't you?"
A tall three hundred or so pound fat kid smiles and shakes his head "Yes".

"Shave and a Haircut"

Dan is slowly but surely turning Will into his late brother.

Notes: Singer Mel Torme must have been a fan of the show -- he's been in so many episodes. This is two in a row now. IMDb says ten, but I swear it has been more than that.

Mel says he has a daughter named "Melody" and shows a photo, but looking online, there doesn't appear to be a "Melody Torme", but he did have a daughter named Daisy Torme and that photo looks like it's her:

Rating: *** *** *

Harry: "A Mel-tone just spoke to me."

Roz: "Well, Dan, looks like you just got yourself a new penpal. And you better pray he stays in the pen'."

"A New York Story"

Stephen Root really held this episode together.

Notes: You know what would be really enjoyable? If Stephen Root was in the new series; he would play the same character (Willard) and he still owns the court hours and sublets it. Has his own room, goes around doing things, hanging out in the lunch room, etc. He got board in Florida, and inspired by his [my idea] half brother -- billionaire Jimmy James -- he came back and got himself a building. Stephen Root just isn't utilized enough, in my opinion.

This was also his second (and final) episode. He memorably played Death earlier in the series.

Rating: *** *** *

"Undressed for Success"

For some reason, I actually expected more from Dan in this episode.

Rating: *** *** *

Finishing SEASON 9:

"Poker? I Hardly Know Her"

Rating: *** *** *

Out-of- context quote exchange...
Harry: "Make room, make room -- creative juices are flowin'."
Dan: "Yeah? Well just please don't get any on me."

"Party Girl (Part 1)"

Rating: *** *** *

"Party Girl (Part 2)"

Rating: *** *** *

Bull: "Strangers will be gawking at my nuptials."

Johnny the Campaign Advisor: "I'm not bald, I'm scalp gifted!"

Johnny the Campaign Advisor: "Hey, we're politicians -- we're slander gifted!"

Dan: "Do you realize in China there are men going to bed horny?"

Dan: "It's fallen and it can't get back up."

"To Sir with ... Ah, What the Heck ... Love"

Took a full star off of the standard rating because of how boring it is. Not just because it is boring, but even though we don't see her in the episode, Art is marrying Bull's annoying mother, so that means she'll be seen again probably before the show ends in a few episodes.

Rating: *** ***

"P.S. Do I Know You?"

Skip ahead after this episode, to "The Boat Show"; the below two-parter is the real finale and the boat episode was aired out-of-order.

Notes: Another episode that doesn't make sense. Just a few episodes ago Harry got a budget of three hundred dollars to remake his office and at one point we see everything was taken out so they could paint. They would have found the safe back then.

Rating: *** *** *

Alex: "Cheapened? I paid four hundred dollars for that actor! He's good -- he's died on three soap operas!"

Mac: "That's an interesting place for a bumper sticker..."

"Opportunity Knock Knocks (Part 1)"

Notes: This is the final episode for Mel Torme on the show. But only probably because it is the third-to-last episode of the series. If the show had continued, no doubt he would have done more.

Rating: *** *** *

"Opportunity Knock Knocks (Part 2)" (episode begins 1:30 in)

Okay ... well ... that was ... something. Fonzie jumped the shark, Spielberg nuked the fridge, "SeaQuest" beamed the ship, and now this.

Notes: I'd be a lucky guy to have that many hot accusers.

Rating: *** *** *

Roz: To Dan, "You've already used up one whole generation of women, now you're working on the second."

"The Boat Show" (final aired episode of the original run -- clearly aired out-of-order)

Unremarkable episode, but a good closing scene with Roz and Dan.

Rating: *** *** *

Sadly, Richard Moll -- the actor who played Bull -- has died. I wanted to link to the thread about his death so future readers can read and/or comment:
