HALLOWEEN ENDS---final trailer released for the sequel.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUay3VwahuE

BRUCE WILLIS---Bruce Willis, who retired after being diagnosed with aphasia, is the first actor to sign a deal with tech firm Deepcake which allows a CGI version of himself to appear in future movies and tv projects. Willis' deal could be the first of many more, particularly for famous deceased actors.

WITCHER: BLOOD ORIGIN---showrunner Declan De Barra commented on the Netflix four-part prequel miniseries which premieres on December 25, “Viewers will be surprised because they’re going to see a story told about a period of elven history that was buried by the humans after their arrival and eventual conquest of the continent. We get to tell a tale about the elves when they were at their height, like all great societies before their fall.”

THE WALKING DEAD---Norman Reedus did not rule out Melissa McBride returning for the Daryl Dixon spinoff series that she quit earlier, “How do you know she’s not gonna come back? The spinoff was announced before we even announced THE WALKING DEAD was ending. We always thought we were doing a show that would come back to the flagship show – we’d take off, then come back to the flagship show.
Then they ended the flagship show, and it was us on our own. And then we shot for a year and a half straight, through the beginning of COVID. At that point, Melissa wasn’t going to do the show. And then she was going to do show. And then she wasn’t going to do the show."
He added, "You don’t, you don’t know she’s not going to show up on the spinoff. I’ll just leave it at that. She’s a very big part of Daryl’s story, it’s all gonna be OK.”

QUANTUM LEAP---Scott Bakula has said he is not involved with the reboot series, but showrunner Martin Gero wants Bakula to return, “I will respectfully always ask him to do the show. I have a very, very good idea that Deborah [Pratt, producer] knows about and that Don [Bellisario, producer] knows about. I think it could be really exciting. But I also completely respect his wishes.
He knows our enthusiasm for him. He knows our enthusiasm, our love, and our reverence for the old show. It’s a no right now. It would be pretty amazing to have him back, but I don’t know what that timeline looks like, or even if it’s possible.”
Gero added, “Yes. I wanna be able to call his managers just enough where they feel like I want him on the show, but not enough where they’re like, ‘This is a possible stalker situation. We need to alert the authorities.’ We would all love for that to happen, but we completely honor and respect his wishes.”

WEREWOLF BY NIGHT---director/composer Michael Giacchino said the Marvel Studios/Disney+ horror special is set in the Marvel cinematic Universe, “We always looked at it as a night in the life of Jack and Elsa, and we never shied away from the fact that, okay, yes, this exists in the MCU. Somewhere else in the world at this very moment, Spider-Man is swinging on something, and Captain America’s doing something, but we’re not going to bother with that. We’re just worried about this moment right here, wherever we are.”

DEXTER: NEW BLOOD---Showtime head Gary Levine commented on if the DEXTER franchise will continue after the success of NEW BLOOD, "It’s too soon to say. We’re still basking in the glow of the limited series, which was everything we hoped for."

THE MUNSTERS---the Rob Zombie movie cast includes two actors from the original tv series. Butch Patrick is the voice of Tin Can Man and Pat Priest is the voice of the Transylvania Airlines announcer.

TRIVIA---writer/director Tom McLoughlin is probably best known for directing the horror movie FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI: JASON LIVES. However, McLoughlin also appeared in two sci fi horror movies.
In Walt Disney's THE BLACK HOLE, McLoughlin played robot Capt. S.T.A.R. In John Frankenheimer's PROPHECY, McLoughlin and Kevin Peter Hall (PREDATOR) played the mutant bear Katahdin.

This is a peculiar subject. I was very pleased with the work done for Peter Cushing in Rogue One... I appreciated it, and certainly absolutely loved seeing him onscreen again, in new lore. Even though he was not him.

With James Earl Jones and Bruce Willis actively participating in efforts to commit their voices and likenesses to the digital effects world, I must indulge my own selfishness and say I look forward to further future uses of their... selves in theater.

We always have to accept an end to careers, as actors & actresses retire, then die. Depending upon their importance to us, as with any death, this departure can leave a hole in our worlds. There will still be death, there will still be holes, but perhaps if utilized reverently and sparingly, this technological frontier could gift us with just a little more of them.

As an example, I might imagine a Peter Falk Columbo production, with Falk from his heyday. Bruce Lee, in his. Leonard Nimoy's Spock.

A worry of course is that this capture and reproduction - this preservation of all that we can - could be wielded to produce garbage. Material unworthy of those so venerated. But that is really also a risk we already run in any production, live or not.

Seeing a deceased artist onscreen feels weird. It already has in a Media Age with the mere passage of time, as we spin up our discs of stars gone by. The technology here is scary and amazing simultaneously. Hopefully our desperate selfish needs to hold onto those we so admire is matched by our respect.

I don't think they're even close to having a believable CGI version of any actor, & just my opinion, but I don't think they ever will be; which is a very good thing. Stars retire & die & should be replaced by up & coming would be stars.

I thought the CGi James Bond character Eon introduced from Casino Royale onwards was terribly rendered and two dimensional.

I agree. I don't think they have yet been able to successfully cross through the "uncanny valley." For the time being, the technology may perhaps best be used in the way in which Willis (and everyone else) appeared in the SIN CITY films.

People aren't just things that can be replicated by A.I. and CGI to get what you get from the real person when alive. the nuances, the ideas the actors bring to the table that weren't even in a script, the subtleties that artificial intelligence can't understand, and what draws an audience to a person on in the first place.

They're already have an A.I. program to "Score" your trailer with artificially-created music, but one day it'll be to replace a dead composer. "A new score from John Williams fifty years after his death!" would be a headline, but it'll never really BE John Williams.

Remember, it's not just actors they want to replace, but any other position they can as well, inside and outside of Hollywood.

I for one don't support this. The final result is besides the point.

Peter Cushing's CGI was distracting, especially next to real people. The recreation is just too fluid. Carrie Fisher was no better and when they tried to recreate Jack Lord in the Hawaii Five-0 reboot, it was the stuff of nightmares.

Deepfake, though, is a little different. There are a few guys on TikTok (@deeptomcruise for example) who just are scary in how perfect it is.

The better the technology becomes, the more likely it is to be abused outside of the entertainment realm. When a video appears showing Putin declaring a nuclear strike on the U.S., I hope we have a way of quickly sniffing out whether it is a fake.

Recreating a realistic actor in CGI is far off and perhaps unattainable. But I have to admit Deepfake is far more convincing. But with Deepfake you're using video of a real person and morphing the features of another actor on top of it.

But I agree, recreating a real actor digitally will never be the same thing. You can't replace an actors own performance with a performance actor.

I also agree we should let legendary actors live in our memories and create new legends.
My gawd I can't imagine a world where there's another Tom Cruise movie every year for the next 200 years!

We don't need Deepfake to do this. Putin, the man himself is handling this all on his own.
And for people who wish we cure aging, imagine having a Putin in charge of a country for 300 years?
