THE MUSIC OF JAMES BOND---George Lazenby was axed as a guest speaker at The Music of James Bond held at the Perth Concert Hall in Melbourne, Australia due to his offensive remarks during his appearance. One member of the audience said, "He spent all of the interview just talking basically about his sexual conquests, he was homophobic, he swore, he certainly wasn’t talking about his Bond movies, he downplayed the Queen, a day after she died. At one point he named an Australian cricketer whose daughter he was chasing and he said he dragged the daughter out of the pub and put her in the car in London, which is horrific … he named women he had slept with, and there were children in the audience, and a lot families who had brought their kids probably to their first classical music concert." Lazenby posted his apology, "I am sorry and saddened to hear that my stories in Perth on Saturday might have offended some people. It was never my intention to make hurtful or homophobic comments and I am truly sorry if my stories that I have shared many times were taken that way. I only ever wish to share some stories and hopefully entertain some people. I personally have friends within my close circle who are gay and I would never wish to offend anyone. Having been surrounded by strong women all my life, I have always admired and respected women and their wishes. I figure my real achievements in my life are my kids: when my daughter Melanie recently got married, I was so proud. As I am of my other kids, Jennifer - who has made me a great granddad. My younger kids are doing well: George Jnr and my twins, Samuel and Kaitlin. Now in my 80s, family and friends are naturally what's most important to me. Love George xx". THE HOLDOVERS---Paul Giamatti will star in this comedy movie set in a 1970 prep school where a snow storm strands a hated teacher, a trouble-making student and the cook whose son was killed in Vietnam. TRIVIA---character actor Dick Miller played a character named Walter Paisley in six movies (A BUCKET OF BLOOD, HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD, THE HOWLING, THE TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, CHOPPING MALL, HANUKKAH) and a tv movie (SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK!). A BUCKET OF BLOOD. HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD. THE HOWLING. THE TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE. CHOPPING MALL. HANUKKAH (released posthumously and Miller's last role). SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK!.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Lazenby was depersonalized and cancelled...for behaving like James Bond?

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a doomed Botanay Bay trip, that started from a tropic planet, aboard this tiny ship...

You have all made good points. ST2TWOK did have some plot holes big enough for Khan's pecs, BUT, before we get too hasty, did Kirk get approval from The Federation before he banished them to Ceti Alpha V? I never really was that crazy about that episode, and I simply don't recall, so I may be way off. I'm just thinking that if Kirk did it as a personal thing, then it could open some possibilities for story lines for the new series. No one checked on them, because only the crew of the E knew about them? Anyway, my main beef with it is that no one can ever even approach Montalban's Khan. Cumberbatch did a decent turn, but he wasn't the real Khan.

Cumberbatch did a decent turn, but he wasn't the real Khan. In the episode they make it sound like Kirk decided the fate of Khan and his crew on his own without the guidance of Starfleet. Making an executive decision like that seems out of order for his command position and it would've been derelict of duty not to mention his encounter with Khan in his Captains Log.

TWOK is one of those films where the plot holes and contrivances are generally forgiven because, on the whole, the film works like gangbusters. It shouldn't work, but it does. It was that "lightning in a bottle" that Trek could capture every so often. Excellent! The writing is very good, the pace is taut, the characters are memorable, and there is an emotional investment that involves us as well. I swear, Kirk never told Starfleet he left Khan there. I'm thinking that's the case. If so, then I could envision that as a sort of space seed for a backstory for Khan's hateful obsession with Kirk. Were the crewmembers of the Botany Bay provided with means of communication in case of emergency? Weapons for self-defense? Think about it. After they land on Ceti Alpha V, they encounter some unforseen, terrible circumstances. Khan asks Marla McGivers about how they can get help from the Federation. She admits that the Federation doesn't know about their imprisonment, so they have no hope of receiving help. I can just see the fury in (Montalban's) Khan's eyes as he realizes what their fate is to be as he shouts: "Kirrrrrrrkkk!" "Kirrrrrrrkkk!"
