I love reading. Right now I have 3-4 music books and one true crime book waiting for me, plus a couple of music magazines I subscribe to which appear 6 times a year.

I am reading more than listening to music these days.

Obiously, I read a lot every day. On the internet (like this) or various non-fiction books, magazines and whatnot. However, it's been a long time since I read a proper fiction book; or since I had any particular desire to read it. Don't know why -- probably because I have too many other "pastimes" to deal with. There are books on my shelf that I've received years and years ago, but that I haven't yet read.

Agreed, fiction is not really of interest.

I watch fewer movies and read fewer novels these days but...

If I could only have one for the rest of my life, movies or books, it would be books, and I wouldn't even have to ponder the choice.

Just a quick note here before I go to bed - I learn A LOT from non-fiction (that's obvious), but I think that I learn even more about life from the best of fiction.

Good non fiction is about facts, good fiction is about truth.

Come to think of it... me too... finally, I said something quoteworthy.

I pity anyone who hasn't had that first mind-blowing experience of reading a great book.

For me it was Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce. I plucked it randomly from the school library shelf aged seven or eight.

I'd already read a fair few books by that age but this was on a new level. I couldn't believe it was possible to enjoy something so much.

I don't think 'Reading Is Worth It' when it comes to the news and current affairs.
Reading about how failed weasels are being rewarded with half a million pay cheques and celebrity airtime in some silly jungle makes me wish I had Burgess Meredith's problem.

For me it was 'The Brothers Karamazov'. It has everything.
