For me, the first season was much better than the second and third, not only because it was shot in black and white, which made it more gloomy and serious. The episodes themselves were much more interesting. In the second and third seasons there were also good episodes, but in most cases only terrible ones. The first season was really more realistic and dramatic. It is a pity that many series lose their quality in subsequent seasons. In 2018, I saw an article on http://tvcancelrenew.com about the reboot of the series. But then there was no desire to pay attention to this remake. Has anyone watched it?

It was also better written with more care given to the stories and the characters other than Dr. Smith, Will and the robot. There was a bit of realism to it that was lost when they went to comedy and full color.

The first 6 or 8 episodes were also produced (without credit) by Buck Houghton who produced the first 3 seasons of The Twilight Zone. Notice the quality of the episodes is much higher there.

Indeed! Hell, in the third or fourth episode Dr. Smith planed to murder Will and Penny! Well, he planned to murder the whole family on lift off but this time he was doing it in person which for me made it even more evil.

In its final two seasons, "Lost In Space" on C.B.S. was pitted against "Batman" on A.B.C.; ironically, both series were distributed by 20th Century-Fox Television.
