Thought this was Fred Willard, so that's a relief. Enjoyed Ward in "Cast a Deadly Spell" and "Henry and June" (no recollection of him in "Tremors"). He was one of those 1980s manly, charismatic actors who you instantly like. RIP, Harry Lovecraft.
He was iconic in The Right Stuff. He tried to become a lead actor and it never really happened unfortunately. Not sure what I've seen him in outside of TRS and Remo. Sad hes gone.
Just before the world really noticed him as Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff, I'd stumbled across him starring in Time Rider (with a score by Michael Nesmith) on a video rental. Great little sci-fi actioner. And I'd also seen him in Southern Comfort around the same time, co-starring with Keith Carradine & Powers Boothe in that Walter Hill film.
Also, if you watch Escape From Alcatraz again, you might catch him opposite Clint Eastwood.
I think he was well cast in these roles and he was an actor I always felt an enjoyment in watching.
Think I might go and check on purchasing a Tremors dvd. I haven't seen it in 30 years.
Sad to see him go. A legion of Remo fans will miss him.

Oh yes, Tremors! How could I forget that one. Very enjoyable film.

God I love that movie. I'm not the biggest fan of Eastwood but when he nails something, he really gets it. Roberts Blossom always stole the show for me (poor bastard) and of course Patrick McGoohan.
I don't recall which doc or newspost mentioned it but had Grissom lived he may well have been the first man on the moon. Ward's unforgettable performance haunts to this day.
