I wonder what odds the Ukraine song is to win it? Surely it's gonna romp home. It doesn't have to be any good!! The winner, last year, from Italy certainly wasn't.
Ukraine was 8/13 to win with some bookies last I looked so might well be a forgone conclusion. This year's Italian entry is well fancied again, by that Mahmood chap who nearly won a few years ago also. Ireland is in Thursday's semi final, so it would be nice to actually make the final though I have my doubts. The UK entry is quietly expected to do well so might be worth keeping an eye on that one.
I watched it religiously in the 80s and 90s, with my family. Less frequently after the millennium turnover, but I've occasionally attended "Grand Prix" parties in the period (the Eurovision contest is called "Grand Prix" in Norway). I was invited to one tonight, but I'm going to skip it and just watch alone, with a few things to drink.
If the Ukraine wins, that's fine by me. Eurovision has always been politically loaded. But I haven't heard a single song yet!

A Ukraine win would give the contest its first real significance since its inauguration. One good thing has come out of it - Abba! And anyone predicting a post-Brexit UK win is just not paying attention...
I saw a clip of the Norwegian entry in the semi-finals (I think). Their costume (more specifically the masks) were definitely in keeping with what I think Eurovision should be about. Bonkers.
Not sure if they made it through to tonight's final.
Yeah, I actually heard the song for the first time yesterday. It's not a particularly strong song, but maybe the whole "package" (costumes etc.) makes it go for the top 10, at least.
My musical favorites were Spain and Lithuania. During the revelation of the audience votes I wasn't surprised that Ukraine received 400+ votes and went over the top. But it was fitting for the times we're living in today. So I'm happy with the result and wishing all the best to the performers who are going back home to fight.
Obviously I'm supportive of the reason for the Ukraine vote. But then we look at the UK coming second and realise we may have won for the first time in many, many years. This shows some calming down of the anti UK feeling we've had for years after being frequent winners in 'the old days'.
