I have the Enjoy The Ride Release. EVERY SINGLE track fades in. Mastering is awful. Whole thing sounds flat. Unlistenable in my opinion. Keep the LLL release. Sound and packaging is superior on the LLL as always.

Sound and packaging is superior on the LLL as always. That's... awful. More proof after the Stylotone debacle that these vinyl boutique releases are worthless. A CD can obviously have a considerably greater dynamic range than an LP can provide. That doesn't "excuse" the fading in of tracks, but the dynamics may be flatter out of necessity. It's a cool looking LP though.

It's a cool looking LP though. Exactly. My frustration is not so much the format (which I'm not a fan of, but that's not important) but rather that the people making collectable LPs are - despite claims to the contrary - indifferent to the audio they're preserving on vinyl. Can you imagine the stupidity of globally applying fade ins and fade outs to an entire digital master (and it WAS digital) for no reason? What would that do to the Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night"? It's ludicrous. It's a market of collectables not audio excellence, and that's been demonstrated too many times to count by snafu's like this along with outright fraud and misrepresentation by the producers in some cases. Caveat emptor. Yes, I agree. I bought only one LP this century so far, and that was for collectability reasons. Have not even opened it yet. :-)

I like some of the stuff Mondo does. I wish Intrada would pick up LPs again. Their Clash of the Titans and Transformers LP releases were spectacular. They put a lot of care (and $) into the overall presentation and it shows. But of course cost prohibited in the end. I hope that Mondo decides to pick up more Trek releases. Particularly Search for Spock, The Final Frontier and First Contact. They would do it well.

I think Intrada's Roger Feigelson said something along the lines of show us how to sell LPs and we make 'em. Apparently, they just did not sell well. But Intrada specifically caters to film music LISTENERS, people who are mostly in it for the music and want to listen to that. Mondo has another audience, they have a leg in the "collectability" market, so I guess they have at least some people picking up their soundtrack releases who may have an attachment to the movie, but who are not in it primarily for the film score.
