Still no sign of that new Menestroll CD, but I'll post an update here when he adds them to his bandcamp page (if you don't beat me to it wink).

In the meantime, I managed to snag a copy of this little gem on ebay, although I haven't received it yet. The CD seems to be pretty scarce, as there's no listing for it on the bandcamp page or on discogs:

https://heimatderkatastrophe.bandcamp.com/album/hdk-81-husk-the-mountains

Very atmospheric and airy in places, yet melodic and engrossing. I can't wait to give it a proper spin!

Lucky b@stard!!!! Never heard of the artist or album, and certainly never seen the CD. I would have snatched it up like nobody's business!!! LOVE this kind of sound, as you probably imagine. One of the Bandcamp comments mentions Vinterriket - I totally agree, sounds like his early/mid-era winter ambient stuff, which is what made me fall in love with that style of music in the first place. If you happen to see another copy floating around, please let me know! I stand at the ready too - eBay alerts in place. smile Please share your thoughts once you've spun it buddy!

I'll keep an eye out for you, dude!

On another note, I received three mini-CDs from Dungeon Tales yesterday and they're adorable. LOL. I haven't listened to them yet, but the quality of the packaging and presentation is better than I'd imagined. I'll definitely be picking up more once there are enough available to justify a combined-shipping purchase.

I also received the Serpent's Isle mini-CD, and it's equally quaint but uses a different type of mini-CD case (like a shrinky-dink version of Wizard-Discs' clamshell-style case).

Now I just need some sort of box or rack to display these in...perhaps a cassette rack would suffice, something like this:

I'm not spending 35 bucks on it, though. I'll keep my eye out at local thrift stores for something similar.

I'm glad you appreciate the new mini-discs my friend! And see, where you're going is exactly why I haven't broken the mold into cassettes, mini-discs, vinyl, etc. - just one more thing I'd be able to justify myself into collecting. Because I know that if I start an argument with me, eventually I'm gonna win. Ha!

Grabbed the Serpent's Isle and Maiden Hair CDs from Forbidden Keep - will post my thoughts when received and listened to. They haven't shipped yet, even - that should happen this weekend.

And here's some great news: Hole Dweller is back! Released a digital album a few days ago, with the claim that Dungeons Deep would be releasing it in numerous physical formats soon. Here's hoping a CD is one of them!

Oh, that's cool that the latest Serpent's Keep album is available in digipak format as well. Something for everyone. Checking out the samples for Maiden Hair now... Not sure it's my cup of mead--a bit too synthwavy in parts, but I've added it to my cart nevertheless so I can revisit it for a second impression. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm sure you got the note yesterday from DDR that they're releasing some distro titles in about an hour, including that Elyvilon album that you mentioned recently. I'm definitely going to try to snatch that up. Wish me luck!

Oh! Yup, totally forgot to remind you on Elyvilon, sorry! Once I saw that on DDR's list I made a mental note, but my mental capacity broke or something. Ha! Good luck, sounds like an interesting one!

EDIT: Dammit, I just missed Depressive Silence! Less than 30 seconds, the time it took me to log into Paypal! Should be good on Elyvilon - looks like there's a half-dozen copies of that. Depressive Silence was only one!

Damn, only one copy of Depressive Silence?! I didn't even notice the quantity, but I managed to snag that as well as the Elyvilon and Gothmog CDs. I guess it's my lucky week for DS acquisitions!

Let's keep this streak going and find me a copy of Diplodocus' Slow and Heavy! big grin

MUSHROOM GRANDPA - Sleep in Herbs

I don't normally dabble in the DS subgenre of "comfy synth," but something about this Ukranian artist's melodic structure just captivates me. Most comfy synth is far too saccharine for my taste, but this woefully short album (less than 21 minutes!) hits lots of different areas of my aural meditative zone. "A Summer Rain" bridges a gap between contemporary dungeon synth and acoustic neofolk. "Beautiful Morning" and "Growing" remind simultaneously of the film score for Punch-Drunk Love and the melancholic passages of the Ys video game series' soundtracks. "Old Lonely Mushroom Grandpa" tugs at the heartstrings with carefully melancholic notes akin to Hole Dweller before closing on the sound of a rocking chair. "Fructification" continues the Hole Dweller worship, before closer "Have a Nice Trip!" just oozes Harold Budd's score to the recent beloved HBO series "I Know This Much Is True." Sadly, the whole thing is over just as I'm having a chance to really sink into it - so I'm looking forward to more. Cover art is nostalgic and beautiful also. Grab the CD while you can!
