La-La Land Records, 20th Century Studios and Republic Records proudly present a limited edition 2-CD set of renowned composer Alfred Newman’s (ALL ABOUT EVE, THE ROBE, THE EGYPTIAN) original motion picture score to the 1959 drama classic THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, starring Millie Perkins, Joseph Schildkraut and Shelley Winters, and directed by George Stevens. Composer Newman’s powerful and stirring score is a masterwork that pairs absolute despair and extraordinary beauty with breathtaking emotion as it enriches this famous, true WWII era story, as told in her diary, of the titular young teenage girl who spent years hiding from the Nazis, before being captured and interred at the concentration camps, where she died.
Alfred Newman’s score finally gets an expanded 2-CD showcase within this deluxe presentation, which features the original 1959 soundtrack album, remastered , along with the world premiere presentation of the film score. The assembly also includes additional bonus music cues.
Produced by Nick Redman, Mike Matessino and Neil S. Bulk, and restored, mixed and mastered by Chris Malone, from multi-track 35mm magnetic film and a recently located ¼ stereo tape album master, this limited edition release of 2000 units features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Julie Kirgo and classic art direction by Jim Titus.

Wow. I had no idea the complete score was 82 minutes long *not* including alternates! Even more of a must buy than I was expecting. Major kudos on seeing this one across the finish line LLL — a most essential revisit!

At long last!!! What glorious news to wake up to! Tuesday can not get here soon enough as I’m definitely ordering this and maybe Fiddler on the Roof. Thank you so much, LLL, for expanding this gem of Newman’s repertoire (the inclusion of the soundtrack album and alternates are another nice bonus).

After years of "Diary of Anna Frank please" in grail threads and speculation threads, can we now, at last, do what fanboys do best... and that is never ever ever mention it again?? Lol. And anybody posting about the music once they receive it will be fined.

Ron Pulliam must be doing cart-wheels! I don't buy many new CD's, however, this release will be an exception. It's always a highlight when I can literally toss the b**t in the trash in anticipation of a legit release! B.T.W, have you members viewed 'The Diary of Anne Frank' on Blu-ray? Outstanding film transfer and all those extras too!

Upon re-reading the press release and seeing the mention of a “recently located 1/4’ stereo tape album master” used for the OST, I can’t help but wonder if the OST was the main holdup on this release.
The cover art also looks nice (is it based on original poster art), though I must admit I’m kinda fond of the album cover art Real Gone used for their release of the OST with Anne shrouded in near-total darkness holding a rose.
